Trade Talk 2019: who should we beat our chest like an ape about now?

Nah, Mendes.

I don’t know if it all can be entirely blamed on Freo although they definitely tried their luck to unders on Hogan deal since they traded off 6.

Neale could walk next year as a F/A so if they are to let him go this year want better value than a compo pick around pick 5 that Lions offering now.

Brisbane has got to cough up more for a contracted gun player & their current B&F winner. But they think 5 is fair.

Until that 5 makes its way to Freo they can’t get Hogan and Dees can’t get May.

Thanks mate.
Any news or thoughts on what the Shiel deal may look like?
Have you heard any more regarding Martin?

Freo will make the Neale and Lobb deals.
It’s only Sat night. They’ll get it sorted by Wednesday.

Infact, there will probably be 30 trades done on Wednesday.

Stop it you’ll upset Aceman

The truncated text is "in the hope of luring him back to Victoria in 2019”… i.e. nothing to see here.

So with Ton Langdon electing to stay at the Pies (supposedly) you’d think they won’t play much more part in trade week.

Sydney hasn’t really got anyone either.

This appeared in an article online

Meanwhile, Essendon and Greater Western Sydney are haggling over which 2019 draft pick should be used to clinch Dylan Shiel.

The Bombers are certain to trade their No.9 pick in next month’s draft for Shiel and want to package that up with their third-round pick next year.

The Giants are instead asking for Essendon’s first-round pick next year.

Neale is worth more than 5 on its own, Brisbane should be coughing up

Happy with this year’s 1st and next year’s 2nd

Part of Herald Sun article on trades says that for Shiel that:

GWS want 9 and next years 1st
Ess offering 9 and next years 3rd

So you can pretty much guarantee deal will/is done as 9 and next years 2nd. Meeting halfway.

Assuming there isn’t something more complex going on with Scully etc

I still think there’ll be other players involved in the Shiel deal, whether they are coming from or going to the Giants I’m not so sure.

And I can’t see us giving up our 2019 1st unless it involves Martin; Dodoro wouldn’t want a player to nominate and then get left in the lurch.

Agreed.

After what Dodoro did last year I expect that we not only trying to get Scully but also maybe a couple of 2nds back ourselves to use for Martin/in draft.

All really waiting until GWS full picks hand known after Lobb deal finalised.

Still can’t get my head around why EFC are expected to pay 2018 & 2019 1st rounders, for a player Giants want to move on…but Hawks are going to get Scully for pick 79, and GWS will even pay some of his salary? And setterfield wemt for peanuts too.

Obviously I’m not that smart.

Alright @fogdog what is this about? Does it involve Essendon?

My take on it is…
They have traded Setterfield.

They’re fielding offers on Scully, Patton, Shiel and Lobb.
They don’t need to trade all of them away.

They probably think Shiel could be kept on if the rest were traded.

That’s my read too, I think Scully would be our 3rd priority after Shiel and Martin, but we will wait until Scully has properly nominated a club and for the Giants to work out their other low profile deals.

The problem we’ll have in landing Martin is that if we trade our 2019 2nd when we can’t trade our 2019 1st (without getting a later 2019 2nd back).

And if we trade our 2019 1st then we can’t trade any more of our 2019 picks unless we get another we get another 2019 1st back. The only picks we would be able to use would need to add-ons from the deal.

I think we will see Roughead moved on from Hawthorn.
That’s my trade shock
