Based on contracts it looks like McKay, Ridley and McGrath are locks in our backline. The rest are up for grabs.
On trade bait out of our relatively stacked midfield - Shiel and Hobbs look to be the guys we might move on which have capital.

they’ve still got time on their side, could be part of a rebuilt line up in the 3 to 5 years. Hell Mcgrath is the same draft as taranto and is contracted to 2030!
We definitely need to shift some players to get some draft picks.

freo’s pies pick is about right. probably throw in some pick swaps to get it done.
tigers will be happy to take it pick 9ish. probably push for 5 from GC for rioli perhaps with a later pick swap in GC’s favour
i think baker is a harder player to value but i could see west coast nibbling at him with an early 2nd which i think would be reasonable.
tigers take 1,5(rioli),9(shai),23(baker), 25 and 34 to the draft
that’s with a rioli + 21 +30 to GC for 5+25+34
honestly i’d like us to do something similar with Langford, wright, and shiel though draft windfall will not be as high and we have a points problem for kako right now because we only have 8 and 28
langford to hawks for 12 (gunston replacement)
shiel and 28 to saints for 24 (or for 45 straight up as Kako points)
maybe 2mp and a 2025 3rd to norf for 22 (probably optimistic alternative is probably pies with pick 32)
we take 8, 12, 22, 24. if a bid comes for kako early we sacrifice 24 . if it comes jsut after 24 we probably have to go into deficit next year because we’re points bankrupt at that point

i don’t see another realistic option to get into the first round this year save for langford. It’s a shame mcgrath and redman are heavily contracted. still i wonder if the crows would sniff around redman for 27
Maybe a late first for Hobbs a second for Cox and a third for Jake. I’d love to get some more first round picks from somewhere

can’t see where the interest for cox or jones would come from honestly maybe hawks or pies with a late 2nd

First Twomey on his show this week indicate Essendon were focussed on hitting the draft rather than trading etc? Unless a FA surfaces, I think we will be focussed on the draft hand.
there’s no way we can really hit this draft without trading. we only have 8 & 28 in the bank at the moment
What I really meant was not focussing on bringing in experienced players via trading.
