Trade talk - from October 2024

Also giants getting stringer might push stone a little further down the pecking order which means more likely to ask for a trade

800k a season!! Surely you jest! Well that changes things quite a bit.

His manager has advised him terribly

800k.?Dreaming. That’s Buddy Franklin/Matt Owies type money

$600k x2 years that’s all anyone should be offering Jake. Even then I’d put performance triggers in the $600k pa

He finished =12th in the Coleman Medal…and we are reported to be offering him $400k for next year.

That’s an insult if ever I’ve seen one and him wanting out has nothing to do with not backing himself and everything to do with that crap offer.

I very much doubt it is $400k a year, regardless of the media carryon. And we are not offering him that, it is what he agreed to in his contract, it is not insulting if he agreed to it. What we are not doing is offering any more years and have advised him if he wants longer term then he is free to look. Otherwise he can stay and earn a new contract next year. It’s purely up to him.

Also, a fair bit to do with us wanting him out, hence refusal to budge on the contract.

It’s not 400k from my understanding, a lot of people seem to be pedalling this. Higher than this.

Yep…that’s how I see it as well.

Hopefully there is no bad blood and it’s a mutual parting of the ways Jake been nothing but good to us since he’s arrived.

And that is perfectly reasonable of the club imo.

No…

what were you expecting?

Why? not once in his 8 years with us has he got into trouble with us

He is lazy & unprofessional. Hence why nobody wants him.

I don’t mind the early show with Cooney. He’s got a decent sense of humor and clearly still loves the bombers. He doesn’t take it all too seriously and the mega trade can be pretty good.

The challenge for trade radio is that the quantity of talking they do compared to the very little actual news that pops up daily makes it hard listening.

Didn’t mind when SOS was on years back.

It’ll be an amicable split. There’ll be a thanks for everything Jake video montage on the club website, he’ll say ā€œI enjoyed my time at Essendon but am looking forward to the new challenge at GWSā€, and we all go on our merry ways.

You guys are having merry ways?

Jake was always one of the first to start his pre season early that’s not being unprofessional
