Trade talk - from October 2024

So a trade is immnient wonder if Stone will be part of it

It’s done. Jake wouldn’t say he wants to go there if they hadn’t presented him a contract offer. He’s probably just doing a medical

Bulldogs should have a look at Shiel if they lose McRae, Smith and Daniel…

Part of the problem is all the uncertainty on Kako, he COULD go pick 8, or pick 25, but both are unlikely and somewhere in the middle is more likely. So have to plan for a number of things to eventuate

Yep, will be fluid. Our phone will ring if it’s before our pick. Should be after our first pick.

Careful, the know it alls on here will tell you that’s not true.

I’ve really enjoyed Jake’s Essendon tenure and will wish him all the best if he does end up at GWS. For me, GWS is the best possible result because:

  • I don’t mind them (so happy to see Jake do well).

  • they have a stack of picks so should be willing to give something up (though won’t be much).

  • may make other business with them easier (eg Stone/Shiel).

Yep same here. Been a favourite of mine for a long time and would wish him all the best at the Giants.

Same with Shiel. Seems like a nice way to finish his career.

I just can’t see how a deal to GWS for 2 years can be a good thing for Jake? Away from family or at the very least a big move north for all…West Sydney is a sh1thole, rental prices etc. Playing in front of 8000 supporters…Big Jesse the main man in their fwd line…makes no sense IMO. But hey…what do I know.

Maybe I just don’t want him to go!

How do you read a trade imminent from that? GWS don’t even know if they want him yet.

Maybe he wants a break from his kids. The attitude I’m getting this afternoon id love a two year break.

Who knows.

Maybe there are circumstances where a move interstate is preferred. He probably won’t actually live in Western Sydney.

He might just think it’s the best path to prolong his career.

Haha! They can test you that’s for sure! :grinning:

Some on here posted earlier that a trade has been agreed on.

Maybe so. 2 clubs and nothing has changed…maybe 3rd times a charm.

If he did what he has this year next season we would have given him another year without doubt. He did it half fit and in a side suffering a huge form slump.

Clearly not keen to back himself in.

Giants might have offered him 2 with a trigger for a 3rd

I’d say probably 1.6 million over two years would have me happily moving to Sydney
