Trade talk - from October 2024

Where did you hear this?

Kane Cornes made a good point we are being tough with Stringer regarding his contract but where was this same stance when we gave long term contracts to guys like McGrath,Redman etc

McGrath unfortunately will be our next captain

This is a great suggestion.

Not sure if they need the cap space help though now they have lost Cumming, Peatling, Perryman and potentially Stone.

I find it strange that clubs didn’t trade back last year if it was known this draft would be very strong, in fact a few clubs traded out of it and now desperately want back in.

I call BS on this draft was known to be a great one 12 months ago.

Stringer turns 31 early next season and has never maintained acceptable skinfold/fitness levels.
McGrath and Redman are mid 20’s and always in tip top shape.

Why are you comparing them to Stringer ?

Yuk.

Durham or Caldwell as next captain

Kane’s a ■■■■■■■ idiot if he can’t understand why the situation is entirely different.

They have plenty of very good young players they’re going to have to pay

I’m not but if we are going to be tough on Stringer regarding what a player is worth when it comes to contracts then the same should be applied to other senior players

Kane Cornes is Tony McGuinness’ illegitimate son and refuses to admit it.

Well he did kick 42 goals in 2021 too…he is capable.

So your happy with McGrath getting 6 years?

Nah, no way tony McGuinness would be a marathon runner.

For the sake of clarity….

Cornes is a fan of us being tough with Stringer and wonders if this is the influence of Vozzo.

He then wondered if the long contracts that we have given to others would be as long if Rosa/Vozzo were in charge. He doesn’t like long contracts.

He wasn’t drawing comparisons between the players.

Nino has slightly misrepresented what was actually said, it was more a general view about getting a bit tougher with list management.

Gotta give Jake 2 years, 84 goals is way to many goals to let go.

He’s simply at a different stage of his career.
Stringer has benefitted from his own long term deals.

Redman & McGrath are a separate discussion based on their output in the next 3-4 years.

I doubt that.

I believe I heard it on radio

Vozzo/Rosa at the club when McGrath re-signed?
