Trade talk - from October 2024

It’s probably the shortest of his three legs which has kicked the most goals. Let’s keep that one.

Some here in Blitz would prefer we gave him “life”!

Yes.

Cornes wasn’t exactly being accurate either

I guess what we’re saying is, he’s worth pick 42.

Or is it 21 because he will sign for two years?

HS:

The Bombers are open to a deal on Stringer, 30, if the two clubs can agree on terms as part of a shift into a new era at Essendon.

It represents a relatively low-risk move for GWS, which could offer Stringer a two-year deal on about $450,000 plus bonuses and incentives.

Under current F/S rules all his kids are ours :smirk:

42 is the answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
Worth at least a first round pick.

It doesn’t really matter. Contracts are kind of irrelevant these days. If a player wants to move then a deal will usually be struck. In the case of McGrath, I’m not sure he’d ever want to leave EFC so a longer term deal isn’t very risky and maybe help balance the salary cap a little more.

3 more for our AFLW team

That’s the most creative (bullshit) extrapolation to justify a non-trade I think I’ve ever read. And let’s face it there’s been some absolute ■■■■ sandwiches dished up here.

Pick 37 for Jake or GWS can GAGF

I think this will end up happening. It will be sad to see Jakey depart the club, as he has given us some great highlights, but ultimately I see this as a move of addition by subtraction.

Wouldn’t surprise me if we end up taking slight unders in trade and will likely get less output from his replacement next season, but it will allow us to rebalance the forward line and get some important games into a Kako or whoever else it may be.

Also Jake is unlikely to be in the next flag side, or even finals winning side, so its time to thank him for his services and ship him off. Time to move on.

Was joking. I’d trade him for pick 73. 56 is great for us. Get it done!

And I can only imagine the post draft night debate around the hero, or villain that is the list team for how things transpire on the night with the first round playing out.

Lots depends on the ducks and drakes surrounding Kako. Will he get a bid or not? Is he a genuine ~6-10 selection or more around the 10-20 range? Will Essendon take preventative action and get swayed off course with playing around with its existing first round selection and ‘blink’ in response to what other clubs might do, or seduce us into?

I suspect villain or hero is the end result. Also, I suspect irrespective of outcome, there will be alot of people taking the high ground view of what transpired on the night in a classic subjective ‘in hindsight it was obvious’ type summary / appraisal.

It’s shaping as one of those strategic plays that will be long talked about for the right or wrong reason. And lots of ‘experts’ ready to stick the knife in if things don’t go as planned……

Peter,Jones,Gresham need to step up and kick a bullk of goals

It’s going to suck for them. The most dominant player in AFLW history, Amy Gaylor, is going to have only just retired and they’ll be playing in that shadow.

Like that post-Hird era in the mens team.

In the first 40 odd picks this year theres about 14 or 15 picks that were on traded in trades/pick swaps from last season for this draft which was quite alot more than usual. But ok

We have a good record with picks between 35-39. This is the calibre of player we should expect.

53 + 56 would be good enough for Shiel + Stringer IMO.

if it was 37 + 53 then plus our 31 we likely have enough points to cover Demons bid for kako.
especially if we do some trading up/down picks for points.

so were going to let these players go and receive ■■■■ all in return, how are we meant to improve our already ■■■■ draft hand
