As many others have said finishing mid table gets you well mid table picks
Surprised we are not after Parfitt and Narkle. Both are only 26.
We got Caddy with pick 10 last year
I hope we are setting the bar a bit higher than that.

We need more gun players in the 24-25 age bracket.
The way Dodo has buit the list has put it out of whack where we cant really bottom out.

We have no bar atm as noone wants to join a sinking ship.
Unless the deal is overwhelmingly in our favour there is close to no chance we make a trade pre-draft IMO.
Listening to Rosa on gettable I think itâs pretty clear what the priorities and strategy are as moving up the board isnât an option.
Priority 1. No bid comes and we get to use pick 9 and match Kako after.
Priority 2. Bid comes pre pick 9 and we trade back for multiple picks to match and then also get a late first to use in the draft.
Priority 3. Trade out of this years draft and take the extra first round pick future next year.
Saints might also come to us at pick 8 and be willing to accept a future second round pick for a one pick upgrade if the player they really want is going to be available at our pick similar to Geelong last year. This may incentivize them not to bid on Kako.

Donât they already hold pick 8 after Battle comp. We have pick 9âŚif they want it theyâd have to be offering more than a future 2nd.

Yes but if push comes to shove on draft night and they get to pick 8 and tell us they are going to bid on Kako unless we give them a second. I think we should do it.
Or just let Kako go and take the player we rate more highly

Itâs not like Kako is 20 picks off in draft range, heâs forecast in that 10-15 range right now. Itâs really not a stretch to be taking him at 9 and he plays a position we are in dire need of.

No. If they really rate Kako at 8 then we should trade back. Plenty of clubs would give us a deal for 9 that would give us at least a second round pick. Threatening to take him unless we give them our future 2nd sounds highly unethical.
