Trade talk - from October 2024

Couldn’t have been much clearer?!?!

Anything in particular you’re struggling with?

That North proposal is terrible for us. We would have rocks in our heads to give 9 away for an unknown pick in next years draft, by all accounts, not as strong as this years.

We would have little draft points left in this years draft for Kako.

Ridiculous.

Any trade that involves flipping 9 for future picks can’t be evaluated in isolation. Would have to be a big part of a wider strategy that would ensure we retained enough points for Kako while maintaining our future draft hand.

I would probably take north’s future first for nine and some junk picks in this draft I would bite there arm of for it.
It would also have the benefit of having a extra first we could then trade back in after a kako bid with either of the firsts or our future second

■■■■ it I’d even throw Shiel in as a sweetener if it meant landing some picks whether it was for points or players.

I’d consider trading 9 and F2 for Norths F1 and 25.

He is going, just waiting for a better offer…

Agreed why delist him, first season after an ACL but looks like the club is

Agreed 2 more preseasons and he will start to shine

Re Kako being valued at around mid teens all year and whether this means he is unlikely to “rocket up” the rankings to 5-7 at the draft -
The rankings mid year are based on perceived player values. But when it comes to drafting, clubs have needs greater than others. So if North, for example, are flush with mids, they don’t want to take a mid even if he is ranked higher than the highest ranked players in their position of need.
The fact that most pundits have mids occupying the first 7 spots, and all of Nth, Melb, Richmond (2nd pick) and St. K (2 picks) might well not want a mid, means Kako (and others) might well go higher than their ranking.
For Melbourne to bid on Kako at 5 doesn’t mean they rank him as the 5th best player in the draft, it means he is their highest ranked player in a position of need.

25 would be written off in a Kako bid so not worth F2.

After academy bids will likely blow out to after 30 anyway

Then they watched back our game against them

Stick with Cal. If he says Kako is 14, he is gonna go about there.
So instead of posturing, lets flick the switch get started on getting points to match, whatever that looks like :+1:.

That’s his power rankings, not phantom draft.

Different thing.

Please explain how the saints have been recently screwed over. Last i checked they got both Marcus Windhager and Mitch Owen from there academy and both have been fairly solid.
Melbourne on the other hand i could agree they should of had access to Mac Andrew but the Awful ■■■■■■ that up for them.

It will happen.

There will be some future picks being traded for points this year, I’m sure.

Plus the option of Stringer and Shiel being traded out.

Points aren’t a problem.

Cam McKenzie was Saints NGA but Hawks bid on him and Saints were not allowed to match.
