Trade talk - from October 2024

Yuck yuck yuck.

So they’ll pay for 9 what they would otherwise pay for 13 because their noise made us ■■■■ ourselves.

Will be livid if true.

No way should we be dealing with Melb or St K. If they bid, deal it to someone else. No way should we be bending over for them.

Calm the farm people. Can’t believe the amount of uproar over speculation and click bait. At least wait for some actual details before losing your minds.

Melbourne with a fit Petracca and Oliver are still a top 4 threat.

Would be an unmitigated disaster.

their club is a dumpster fire of culture and shithouse vibes led by a coach who has zero chance of bringing it back from the brink

I suspect we would use their future first to trade back in after any Kako bid.

I also don’t hold high hopes for them next year.

They are also just as likely to go into freefall next year (everything catches up with them) and it’ll be a top five pick.

Na, look at the price on the first round this year. We wouldn’t be able to afford it.

As in, trading back into multiple second/third round picks. Not back into the first round.

The draft we have 3 picks in is the worst draft for a decade.
The draft we have pick 1 is an incredibly weak pick 1.
This is a strong deep draft were we looked like getting two top picks. We’re the fifth worst team on percentage and we’ll end up with the player we were always getting, ranked in the teens by most, and not another pick until late in the draft.
Awesome.

There’s more to it than that. I suspect we need an informed view to understand the strategic play here.

Trading pick 9 with Melbourne

quick everyone panic when nothing has happened

I don’t think so. We’re concerned about our pick 9 being used on an academy player and we’re being sucked into trading it for a future.

Assuming Essendon are operating with a strategy … well it’s an assumption that’s for sure.

You ■■■■■■■ spineless piece of ■■■■ club.

Hand back the keys.

It’s the wise move. The risk of a bid is too great and draft night trading is too variable.
