Presumably, this strategy would depend on Kako sliding and then us live trading out a second rounder or two when we discover we don’t need them to match.

It could mean that we take only Kako and one other kid. Maybe it’s worth it for a bumper draft hand next year.

Just means we’d have to be prepared to forego the chance to grab a talented kid or two in the 30s this year.

Yeah you know they did it to get in local kid and more talent faster, but you miss Sheezel doing that who will be by a large margin better than the two others combined.

I personally think Walsh’s impact is overrated. Like Parish for us, he gets the ball a lot, just doesn’t really hurt teams with it. Cripps is the game-changing, high-impact player.

Bingo! Walsh is overrated. I’d much rather a player like Reid or Dusty. They get less of the footy but they’ll single handedly win you a game.

I think the trade will go through.
Something would have been generally agreed, but we’re just leaving it to the last day to see if better picks can be involved.

If it doesn’t go through, it won’t be weird.
We’ve handled this well so regardless of which way it goes, we’ll come out okay out of it.

We (fans) think it’ll be weird because we ride the media narrative far too much, but once a player is at the club, the outside noise is less noticeable and it’s easier for a player to get on with things. There’s also the added benefit that the captain (and coach) rates you and would welcome you back without any grudges held.

Let’s not forget how this all started…
Jake simply asked for another year and the club said no, but that he was welcome to explore his options for a longer deal elsewhere…

They haven’t at any stage trashed him or wheeled him out as trade bait.

But that’s boring and won’t get anywhere near as many clicks as salacious headlines about his toxic attitude and terrible standards.

The whole thing is a massive beat up. He wants a deal that we rightly won’t give him, so he’s looking elsewhere for security and we’re trying to get appropriate compensation for him at the trade table.
