I’m surprised Blitzers are having a go at Rosa over this. It is clear the club wanted Stringer gone, GWS recognised this, so offered stuff all.

Stringer was contracted. If we didn’t like the deal, we could walk away. We didn’t. Which means the club found the deal acceptable. Rosa was clearly dealing with one arm tied behind his back.

The only surprising element is I would have thought GWS would pay more to have us pay his 2025 salary. I’d be very annoyed if we didn’t offer to do so.

The Bombers wanted to improve their draft hand, and were willing to pay a portion of Stringer’s salary at the Giants if that helped them score a better pick.

Sounds like we did offer and they weren’t interested.

I feel this is harsh on what Stringer brought, but agree with Langford already there I’ve no interest in a medium marking forward to replace him.

I’m the same in that I don’t really watch the eagles closely, but having spent a lot of time on the eagles board (posting videos and chatting draft) I’ll just say that there was a large majority there that was keen for him to go and happy when it was announced.

What exactly are the statistics based on this claim? Assuming draft picks are overrated.

Here you go, I have gone through every single draft of the past 40 years and calculated the average games played by each pick.

• I may have just googled it.

We should’ve traded Sheil last year when StKilda were actually interested, and he seemed amenable. Having a high player retention rate when you also have poor on field performance isnt the success Essendon seems to think it is.

We should have traded him (and made more substantial changes) after finishing 15th in 2022.

But Stringer wanted more than 1 year.
It’s bad business to offer a 2nd season, or even a Trigger with a player like Jake.

Other players who play alternate positions are irrelevant.
As frustrating as the 1yr Menzie contract is.
