Trade talk - from October 2024

Who is the expert on fairy dust points around here?
So we have picks 28, 31, 40, 46, 53, 54, 65 I believe?
And for an earlier Kako bid 28 and 31 will be enough points to cover? Is that right?
At what point, would 31 and 40 be enough, or 31 and 40 and 46, or 40, 46 and 53, etc.?
So that if a bid hasn’t come by pick 15 or so, will we start looking to use pick 28 and/or 31 to move back up the order?
*** understanding that the picks will shuffke up and down and points will change on the night also

Don’t watch too much of WCE of course but Alex Witherden seemed to be a good user of HB when at BLFC.

Delisted by the Eagles now - IIRC he was reasonably sought after when he left BrisVegas.

No good?

40, 46, 53 & 56 = 1187 points, equiv to a bid at pick 14.

We also get a 20% discount, so essentially those picks alone will cover a Kako bid from pick 10 (1424 points).

Trade out 28 & 31 for F2s & some more late picks this year, match a Kako bid, then trade those two extra F2s back in on the night for a top 25 pick.

Get Kako, 25ish & some late selections in a deep draft.

Still have 2 x F1s and our F2 for next year.

Wow. Nice.
Surely more to play out with those picks on the night. I personally expect a Kako bid to come closer to 20 than 10, so think there’s a lot of room to move.

Yep I think so too. Either way, we’re already covered with the later picks so should be using the earlier ones as ammo to trade back into the top 25.

Scraping close wins in all but a couple of matches is not what I’d call “excellent”.

Apparently senior group of Collingwood players told the coach they didn’t want Stringer. Coaching staff were seriously considering it. Pies went cold

If Kako hasn’t been bid on by 7 and a player we want is still on the board we could use a future first plus later picks this year to get back in and get a player we want then wait for the Kako bid (and match). We could get back in ahead of the Kako bid assuming we have enough points left to march a Kako bid?

The curse of pick #6 strikes again

From a day or so back -

Pick 40 and 46 combo can match a pick 19 bid.

40/46/53 can match a pick 13 bid.

So if Kako gets beyond 13, you could say that 28 and 31 start to become tradable depending on how many selections we hope to take, and where.

These become a little different depending on Ashcroft bids etc, but these are rough guidelines.

I always liked what I saw of him and was surprised to see him get the boot. But I also don’t watch the eagles that closely, so I wouldn’t go so far as to say wsphu.

Trade up to take a player? Or trade out to a future pick?

What has Stringer done that has scared off even Filth players? They have De Goey.

Either, really. Not sure 28/31 will get you too much higher in this draft though.

Maybe one de Goey is enough for them…they couldn’t handle two!!

It’s one strategy.

It’s a risky one though.

Even if we trade 2x second rounders for a Future pick…… we might get stranded there.

Which is a pretty big problem, when we need to fill a lot of list spots. We don’t want to be having 2-4 picks in the 60’s-70’s.

Yep the risk is we can’t trade back in, but surely with 2 F1s & 3 F2s we can find a way

He played 4 games in 2024 after an acl interrupted his 2023 season.

Charlie Clarke delisted from Bulldogs.
Saw some posters saying he is worth a look.
