Trade talk - from October 2025 (Part 10)

Yep, anything will do. He wont be around for success, providing he stays fit he will appeal to a team in the window i’d imagine

Sharp, Robey & parish is too slow as a trio

I continue seeing people complaining that we should be asking for AFL support package.

I think we need to unpack this more. As It’s obvious that people are just frustrated and just want handouts from the AFL, without any method.

First point is, we simply wont get support. That is the fact of the matter. You need to 3 years in the bottom 3-4 before the AFL will even consider it.

The next point is, If we end up trading Merrett and possibly Ridley (plus a bonus end of 1st round pick for NGAs)….. that should be plenty of draft capital available for this season.

The next point is, you get one shot at asking the AFL to step in and help. They ain’t gonna be impressed if we’re asking for help each year….. and what sort of support are you asking for? They wont be giving us picks, if we have 4 first rounders already. So what do you actually want?

The final point is; if you’re going to be asking for help, you should be timing it strategically. The perfect time to be asking for support is next year, when Tasmania come in and dilute the draft. That’s when you ask to have a 25% discount on Bewick, and allow us to use multiple picks to match a bid. Plus a few extra perks added, like extra list spots.

There is simply zero chance we’ll get it this season…. And asking would be detrimental for getting it in the future.

Of course we wont get help we are not one of their precocious nepo baby clubs

Is there a world where we trade pick 1 for Butters if he were wanting to come to the bombers, Port get the best player in the draft and Cochrane. Not sure id do it but just throwing it out there. We will bid on Cochrane at 1

Thats a BIG ask dude

That would be unbelievably foolish. It won’t happen anyway, Butters ain’t coming to us.

Love the salt from West Coast fans who happily put their hand out and got gifted pick 2 for Oscar Allen.

Cal culations

I like it :joy:

Many teams have won flags or played finals after spending only 1 or2 years at the bottom. You are clueless

It’s definitely worth asking for assistance. Whether we get it is another story but our injury toll is unprecedented and showing no signs of letting up.

Essentially 2 full seasons of injury carnage

so what assistance are you asking for?

Whatever we can get. I guess the best we can hope for is an extra end of first round pick although it would be nice if we could get a discount on Bewick’s asking price next year.

But we’re already getting one.

Two would be twice as nice. We will have a lot of list spaces after we finish our delistings.

We should be asking for it now, you need to be conditioning the public because it’s all about optics for the AFL. We need the spin doctors to frame it to suit is.

As I pointed out. Trade Merrett and Ridley, and we’re likely to have a minimum of 4 first round picks.

Absolutely no reason to be asking this season. The only thing we might get is a few extra list spots (if that)

Might aswell hold off until next season, and seek support in getting Bewick for minimum cost.

I honestly think we’d only get one (late) first for Merrett and a second for Ridley.
