Just take Gresham and they can have Merrett
Zach Merrett is going to do the impossible and miss a shot he didnât take.
Go public sooky lala
Iâm getting more and more convinced this Merrett thing is all a diversion so Geelong can quietly rort everything and secure Curnow for a packet of chips and most of his salary just disappear
Happy REQUEST day everyone.
He wonât do it, heâs a â â â â â
I grew up around Hawthorn. Most of my mates support Hawthorn.
They thought theyâd get Harley, and I think they were favorites if he left.
Merrett wants them and they think Humphrey wants them.
â â â â I hate Hawthorn
Itâs hilarious some hawks supporters think theyâre getting Humphrey AND Merrett
Theyâre the most ruthless club in the comp.
I wouldnât be shocked - some good players would have to get tapped.
Not for serious value, but they moved Mitchell, Hodge and Lewis to start their rebuild. Weâd never have the balls to do that.
Do we have ITK?
Can he be guaranteed games?
I think if we get McKenzie, he takes Setterfields spot as the bigger mid and we cut Setters.
Theyâre definitely not. Geelong and Brisbane are far better at what they do, they just donât let it play out in public as much.
I said the most ruthless.
âHawthorn will refuse to trade for Merrett if a deal canât be done by Thursday.â
From Foxsports:
Zach Merrettâs hopes of leaving Essendon rely on Monday turning into a moving day for his desired deal.
Multiple reports have framed the Merrett saga as requiring a circuit-breaker to have any hope of being completed by Wednesday nightâs deadline.
Hawthorn has offered its top pick this year (No.9) and 2026 first-round pick but the Bombers want more than that in exchange for their 30-year-old captain.
Adding their 2027 first-round pick wouldnât do much for the Bombers either given thatâs the draft set to be heavily impacted by the introduction of Tasmania.
The Hawks have instead been seeking a third club to get involved in the deal, so the Bombers can either land a player or better picks, especially since Sam Mitchellâs side appears unwilling to deal any of its players.
If Merrett does not more actively push for a trade, potentially by making an official trade request, or if the Hawks do not improve their offer on Monday it will be very hard for a deal to be completed.
Interesting. Other than the âmust move todayâ hyperbole.
Interesting if true that they have put forward 2025 and 2026 1sts. I disagree that 2027 isnât worth much as even though it will be push back, I think having currency in that draft has value for both Bewick / NGAs as well as flexibility to get involved in trading up to Tassieâs picks.
Kane Cornes, believes Merrett deal wonât happen.
yep 2027 First is important as we have Darwish, Rodan and Bewick all eligible that year, all could be first/second round picks
