- Zach Merrett: expectation is that Merrett or his manager will speak to Essendon today and request a trade. Lots of chats. Merrett’s move will depend on what Essendon do. If we say no trade then they will likely go public. Expect Hawthorn to go to a third club to get more capital. Essendon will trade him if the deal is exceptional. That could look like 2 FR plus something else. Still the biggest story of the trade period. Essendon very strong. Unless something happens very soon then Zach might need to move on.

We wont get best offer for him until Wednesday so until then we should be knocking the offers back

They just mean that they’ll announce wanting a trade publicly. Nothing is ever THAT interesting
It still sounds to me like Hawks come to the table with a very good offer and we, eventually, take it after some sort of token add on to make it look like we won.
