Trade talk - from September 2025 (Part 9)

Amazing Dave

Aka David Copperfield

had a mate we called amazing Dave. Would get into a shout with a few of us, and disappear before it was his turn. Just vanish.

“Had” a mate.

Really must have nailed the disappearing trick.

Extremely good at it. So good we stopped searching

You can be ruthless and smart.

When the bid comes for Sweid you can trade a future to get the points you need.

I like what I see from Sweid seems to love the contest. I would ensure we can get him within reason.

How did he pronounce it?

I think that maybe a good play as a starter. Thats if GC trade 7 and 8 to Demons

Feels like today is the day this thing really ramps into overdrive.

I can do all that.

Ess - IN 9, StK F1, Steele OUT Merrett

Haw - IN Merrett OUT McKenzie, 9, 31

StK - IN McKenzie, 31 OUT F1, Steele

St. Kilda reportedly wants McKenzie, Hawthorn gets to keep its F1 for possible Butters deal.

If anything Hawthorn getting Merrett relatively cheap,

This trade will fall through like it did with Dunkley imo.

It better otherwise I’m doing all this not-work for nothing

I disagree. WCE went straight on the attack to the AFL about compensation, etc. The AFL indirectly gave them everything they wanted.

Not us. We are Essendon, we can’t be seen to be going cap in hand. We could have been knocking on the AFL’s door the day after Round 24, highlighting 20 years of failure and starting behind the 8 ball, list wise, due to injuries in 2026.

But no, our Chairman (& Board) what’s to buy into List Management.

Morris earlier said that Dean Cox was looking through the list over the week end on which contracted player they can move on for Curnow

Why can’t Hawks do the same instead trying to make Essendon blink and get him cheap

Does this mean you’ve dialed back your enthusiasm for Duursma, given that trading up to pick 1 will require giving up 2 top 10s?

If GC trade 7 and 8 to Demons….trying to work out how GC has points for both Uwland and Patterson. Patterson would be an ideal fit for Tigers so i think they bid on him at 3. Uwland maybe bid on at 2 or 3.

Hence why the Suns will be desperate to have us hand over a 2025 pick (or pick swap) rather than 2026 for Fiorini. And even then it might still be difficult for them… unless Humphrey were to go :grimacing:

Suns can’t get both thier NGAs hope it happens fark them

Yes they can.

They need to trade out their teen picks for lots of other picks.

So if they bank on bids at 3 and 4 they will need 3,726 (with the 10% discount0

They get 24 back from the dees, 37 for Budarick

Leaves them with 3565

Then they do the Forini trade to get and extra 200 - 300 points
