That’s a belter of a deal, I would accept that in a heartbeat.
Yeah for pick 44 and konstanty, we can cash in now and help set up our next decade of footy
I agree, but the Hawks need to give us a good offer that will allow that.
Setterfield still remaining on our list currently pretty much sums up this club. Not an easier delisting to be made ever
Feels like there’s a bit more going on with Zach today compared to yesterday!!
Lol you have a 2 year contract you ain’t going anywhere Zac no matter how much you want to leave
You want to get to Hawks then you need help Essendon get what they want.
So… North wanted him? Not really a great example.
Then you have the fact they’re completely different players.
You said “It’s likely nobody will want him”. I disagree. Not really any further this needs to go.
I’ll just keep hoping we wake the ■■■■ up over the next 30 or so hours and move him on.
I don’t see it as emotional. It’s just being resolute and I bet we’ll get a great deal out of it.
Two firsts is a good deal if they were to throw in a future second next year or in 27 i would bite their hands off to get it.
I think with teams like gold coast and swans getting better through this trade period plus the dogs getting a full season out of darcy the hawks making the eight next year isnt a given.
Is there?
Today’s summary:
Hawks “We still want you”
Merrett camp “I still want to go to Hawks”
Essendon “You are contracted and not going anywhere”

FWIW I regularly deal with decent level negotiations for work. One of the most commonly used tactics is the idea of scarcity of anything.
This is what Hawks are doing - using time against us. Start with junk lowball deals, then as the trading period ends offer something greater but still probably unders to get us to accept something before the clock ticks out. It’s nothing revolutionary, but I hope it helps some of you cut through the media bullshyt and realise how they’re going about it strategically.
Conversely, Zach is also a scarce asset but he’s not exactly in the shop window.
tl;dr - Pretty sure Zach goes, but we’re in a game of chicken. I think Hawthorn will blink first as a failure to get a deal done has far greater negative ramifications on future deals for them.
ok, in 2 years time, I don’t think we will care if he wants to leave because he will be 32/33yo.
Can’t people are still defending Jones. I was over him three years ago
Humphrey’s manager doesn’t think anythings going to happen there.
The media are creating urgency, because they’re running out of things to discuss all day.
Im not sure why people panic about these big deals.
Fox Footy always have a trade show where these deals are announced in the last hour of trade week.
They ding a bell each time a deal is announced.
This is just entertainment, click bait and ratings this whole reality show type scenario.
All these deals will be signed sealed and delivered, and they will go though like previous years.in a scripted set up.
Swans want pick 22 back in the Curnow deal apparently, not a “late pick” as stated.
Interesting.
Could allow us to trade up for one of Carlton’s picks to give them points if they take it.
Or even look at something that lets them trade up to 6 where we get their and Swans picks and send them points for Dean.
Would love their F1 but won’t be on the table given Walker
You under estimate essendon stupidity
People say this an awful lot.
If something’s agreed to already, why are Merrett and his Manager meeting with the club/etc?
Wouldn’t surprise me if the AFL ask clubs in certain situations to hold off announcing, but thinking every deal goes this way is a little fanciful.
