The AFL are making it up on the fly. I’d be challenging this one if I was the Swans.

I have today read a statement issued by Ryan Griffen‘s management. It requires clarification.
Ryan Griffen raised with me some concerns about our Senior Coach the day after our best and fairest. I then organised for him to immediately relay those concerns to our Chief Executive, Simon Garlick. We both took Ryan‘s concerns very seriously as did Brendan McCartney when he was informed of them.
We arranged for Ryan to meet with Brendan and our Football Director, Chris Grant, and they discussed his concerns. Brendan acknowledged some faults and agreed to work on them. At the conclusion of the meeting, Chris asked Ryan if he was happy with the meeting and agreeable to working with Macca on an ongoing basis.
Ryan answered yes to both questions and added that while he was on leave he wanted to reflect upon whether he was best suited to captain the Club in the future.
Having returned to Australia on Tuesday night and without any further discussion with us after giving that agreement, Ryan informed us that he had changed his mind. We were also informed that he was seeking a trade to GWS – with whom we now understand he was in communication during this time.
We are extremely disappointed at his approach and have no intention of indulging it.
LMFAO!!!!
A Peter Gordon open letter?
Too funny.
AFL drowning in their own bullshit.
He’s the captain.
The captain.
Oh the LOLs

comeuppance anybody?
let em know.
Those academy players…fark me! Why is the Swans even allowed in the draft? When they can just get quality talent of their academy.
It’s kinda bullshit.
Wow. I hate Sydney, and suck sh*t.
But how can the AFL do that? Seriously?
WTF IS GOING ON WITH OUR GAME?
AFL overly concerned with "optics" at the expense of good processes again.
Incredibly moronic.
Bulldogs will have $ and will be throwing it at a key forward.
Can someone kidnap Carlisle for a week!
I’d be getting in the ear of any Sydney player (especially ones out of contract next year) and trying to get them to want to come to us.
Yes, it is a stretch, but I’d love to give up pick 20 for Hannebery

Gill is making Vlad look like a smooth operator.
RE the Swans, say they wanted to trade Reid for a player on minimum wage - would the AFL still kibosh that?! They are literally making this ■■■■ up on an hourly basis.
This may be remembered as the year that the AFL officially lost control of the game.
They've lost it.

AFL trade 2014: AFL bans Sydney Swans from trading players in
EXCLUSIVE
Sydney has been told it cannot trade any players into the club this year or next unless the club is prepared to bring about an instant end to the cost of living allowance.
The Swans are extremely unhappy with the AFL directive, which also prevents the club from recruiting any restricted or unrestricted free agents to the club before the end of 2017.
It means the club will only be able to replace a player who seeks a trade out of the club with a draft pick or picks.
The Swans lost Nick Malceski to Gold Coast as a free agent this week, and have young forward Tim Membrey on the way to St Kilda.
Following discussions last month, the league wrote to the Swans last week confirming the club's recruiting would be restricted to draftees, delisted free agents and promoted rookies.
Should the club choose to pursue a restricted or unrestricted free agent, or trade a player in, its COLA payments would cease immediately.
As it stands, COLA will be phased out over the next two years and replaced in 2017 with a new rent subsidy that will be paid from the league to lower-paid players.
The AFL's position is that it is helping Sydney manage its contractual obligations this year and next by phasing COLA out over a period of two years.
It says allowing the club to bring senior players in on the same conditions would destroy the purpose of the 'phasing out' process.
Sydney chief executive Andrew Ireland said the club had hoped to change the league's mind, given COLA was put in place by the AFL and the Swans had never had a choice but to pay it.
"We're not happy about it, we don't understand it and we'll continue to talk to them about it. We think we're being penalised for complying with AFL rules," Ireland said.
"The only way we've been able to recruit players in the past is by losing other players and creating enough salary cap space to bring players in, like every other club.
"We haven't broken any rules, we've complied with the AFL's rules and this is their rule. The only reason players have received COLA is because the AFL has said we have to pay it.
"It wasn't optional. We argued for it and we believed we should have kept it, but in the end they put the rule in place and we had to comply."
Sydney was able to lure Lance Franklin as a free agent last year on a huge contract, but the club made room for him by losing Jude Bolton, Shane Mumford, Jed Lamb and Andrejs Everitt.
The club might lose Membrey to the Saints for nothing, given it has secured the rights to three Academy players in the draft.
The Swans are holding their own second-round pick and the one they received for Malceski's departure, and do not need any more picks.

Whoa!
Meanwhile, over at Whitten Oval....
Agree. That is fkin' unbelievable. They should take them to court..... and they should start supporting James Hird and Essendon because now they now a teensy weensy bit about how we have been treated!
How can they keep making things up as they go along! Tying themselves into a million knots.
6.4% Brand damage detected.
LMAO
The only rule the AFL hasn't changed is the one that says rules must be constantly changed.
