Trade Talk

  1. Now the Sydney Swans have reportedly been told by the AFL they are unable to trade any players into the club this year or in 2015 unless they agree to bring an immediate end to the Cost of Living Allowance.
That hurts their trades out really does
  2.
  3.

Sagas aren't that bad when they're happening to someone else.
Is this what all these other clubs have been feeling this whole time?

So how many clubs need to unite to spill the commission?

Exactly.
At what point do all the clubs start questioning how this competition is being run by so many incompetent dickheads that they decide to do something about it?

I have today read a statement issued by Ryan Griffen‘s management. It requires clarification.
Ryan Griffen raised with me some concerns about our Senior Coach the day after our best and fairest. I then organised for him to immediately relay those concerns to our Chief Executive, Simon Garlick. We both took Ryan‘s concerns very seriously as did Brendan McCartney when he was informed of them.
We arranged for Ryan to meet with Brendan and our Football Director, Chris Grant, and they discussed his concerns. Brendan acknowledged some faults and agreed to work on them. At the conclusion of the meeting, Chris asked Ryan if he was happy with the meeting and agreeable to working with Macca on an ongoing basis.
Ryan answered yes to both questions and added that while he was on leave he wanted to reflect upon whether he was best suited to captain the Club in the future.
Having returned to Australia on Tuesday night and without any further discussion with us after giving that agreement, Ryan informed us that he had changed his mind. We were also informed that he was seeking a trade to GWS – with whom we now understand he was in communication during this time.
We are extremely disappointed at his approach and have no intention of indulging it.

LMFAO!!!!

A Peter Gordon open letter?

Too funny.

I love the parallels of this story with Paddy, brilliant comeupance to that farkwit Gordon!!!

The fact that their senior coach was referred to as 'Brendan' and 'Macca' in the same article, shows where this club is at.

Wow. Footscray are stupidly honest about how farked up they are.

He and the other old group at dogs have been a cancer
Do not want

Wow. Footscray are stupidly honest about how farked up they are.

And what I love is it makes it almost impossible for them to sack McCartney now.

How many more issues are we away from an Open Letter from Gil?

Especially if a group of young guns will walk if he goes

Remember when we were the problem with the AFL brand? Two weeks ago.

Gillon McLachlan, who took over as AFL chief executive from Andrew Demetriou mid-season, recently revealed in a meeting with clubs that Essendon had been the leading cause of damage to the AFL brand. It had also been damaged by costs to fans, fixtures and scheduling, but 50 per cent of the harm was inflicted by Essendon.

You can only laugh. Inflicted! Yeah right. This guy is deadset worse than Vlad. During his tenure, he will complete the ruination of this once great game.

This is what free agency has brought us to. Players know that their penultimate year before becoming a free agent is their time to go. The club either lets them go or loses them for nothing the next year. It's the EPL in a nutshell. The clubs are over a barrel. Unfortunately we are going to see more and more of it. Don't be surprised if Dangerfield is next.

Watch what happens when they drop priority picks as compensation. Clubs will have no choice but to trade one year out. If you think bottom dwelling clubs are getting screwed now it will only get worse

Yep. Equalisation is working fine. Fuckwits.

Tis the season for open letters.

Free agency is a bizare system how Frawley is worth more the GAJ/Franklin is farked. Number one forward and midfielder in the comp worth less then Frawley.

Players walking out on clubs this is getting borderland FUBAR

Any player at a bottom club is now fair game.

Well be The Australian Premier League in no time.

There’ll only be about 6 teams competing for the cup each year.

Fuuck Gil. Wanker.

Tin foil hat theory for preventing the Swans from trading players in:
Perhaps bringing Tippett and Franklin in has actually caused the Swans to be over the salary cap (even with COLA!!) but the AFL doesn't want this news to come out... so slaps this rule on to prevent breaking it even further??

Plus probs thought they had Hird stitched up last week so would have snuck it through in the middle of that storm

More likely Sydney was actually going to offer market value for Ryder, and that needed to be stopped at any cost.

The AFL are making it up on the fly. I'd be challenging this one if I was the Swans.

Agreed.
Seriously, are competition is an absolute joke. We make f1 seem like a fair and even sporting competition!

I really want Cooney…
