How do you support that statement?

Paul Roos built a premiership side at Sydney with a heavy emphasis on trading, not drafting.

A recruiters job is to support the vision of the current coach. Something we have had many of in recent times.

Since installing Dodoro in a list management role with a recruitment team under him we are again seeing further improvements on what we have done in the past.

A number of reasons. A couple would be:

  • The Saga. Weren’t we something like 4th on the ladder when we got banned from finals in 2013? So without it we would have been in a decent place to win a final that year. It obviously also impacted 2014 and 2015.
  • Support. Jackson stripped our spending so that near the end of the Sheedy tenure we had fewer development coaches, few recruiters, the alignment with Bendigo and a terrible medical record.
  • There seemed to be an emphasis on topping up over a full rebuild. Knights was selected over Hardwick who wanted to trade out older players. Despite our rubbish performance 2005 to 2012, we only had two top 5 picks. This all slowed the rebuild.
  • Bad luck with good recruits. The injuries to Gumby, Myers, Pears all hurt us and slowed things, and Jenkins leaving didn’t help either.
  • We had terrible luck with the timing of AFL draft decisions. We missed out on the pre-round 1 priority pick by one year, and had the new teams enter (although that obviously didn’t just effect us).

Does anyone know if training is on the Monday 21’st Jan?, looking to go meet some fellow bomber supporters.

Friday January 12th – from 10am

Wednesday January 17th – from 3pm

Wednesday January 24th - from 11am (signing opportunity post training)

Monday January 29th – from 10:30am

Monday February 5th – from 10am

Training times and location is subject to change depending on weather conditions.

The Bomber Café and Bomber Shop will be open for business during business hours.

Please note: Dates and times are subject to change and we will do our best to inform of such changes. The Football Department may also decide to relocate sessions due to player training loads.

Sessions open to media will be advertised via the Communications team.
