Preseason always exciting… and last year we saw the season reflected, partly, the optimism we had seen in the training reports etc etc. That bodes well.
I think the big difference is we are learning confidence in the types of players we are recruiting… our culture has 100% turned around and the group seems really close. Having guys like Merrett, Shiel, McGrath and Parish who are, by most reports, intense trainers… helps set that standard high.
So every team spends pre-season wishing and wondering and hoping but I feel like our guys are starting to believe they are at the level… they are understanding the work required and are keen to do it. There seems to be that undercurrent that they ‘underperformed’ last year… when most pundits thought they overperformed by making the finals… I like that. I like that this group really believes they have all the parts necessary to be a champion team.
Keep up the fantastic training reports, we are lucky to have you guys, and lets hope we keep building.
P.S. I really hope Walla finds his way back… not going to be negative… we need him on the field but I think we all care more that he is happy and healthy and enjoying his best life.

As Sheeds and others have said, key thing is for that continuity between the group playing games together.
Need to have them trusting each other 100% and knowing instinctively what a team mate will do. We are seeing some of that: Parish and Merrett, Smith and Stringer regularly finding each other
Had exact same thought.
Not a tackle to be seen tho.

I think everyone would agree he is the most liked and genially love player we have had on our list for a very, very long time. Not just because of the attributes he brings to our team and his performances, but because of how he goes about it, and the quality of his character.
So much so, that he was voted most likeable/popular in the AFL. Not many players have songs written on them as he is such an unique and adored individual. Like Eddie Betts, he is universally loved by the whole football community and EVERYONE, wishes him a speedy recovery because the game is poorer for his absence.
