Training report - 25 August 2020

25 August Training 11am Metricon

Warm and sunny and light breeze.

I was there from 11am-12.10pm, so when I say “full” training this means for that time.

[Spec] means my speculation and disregard completely if preferred.

Rehab group

Fantasia
Francis
Ambrose
Bryan [spec - probably not injured just played full game in ruck in scratch match]
Cahill (rehabbed in Dev’s No 5)
McKenna
LAV
Hurley
Draper

Light kicking & jogging

Gleeson
Snelling

These 2 stood out of the first 40 minutes of group training and just jogged and then when they moved to forwards, backs & mids they joined in those sessions with Snell as a mid, and Marty as a back.

No sign of Belly or Dev Smith

Mutch trained with the backs.

Joe did full training with the forwards. Looks ready to play.

Hepp did full training with mids but only kicked on right foot. Looked ok.

McKenna did quite a bit of running and shouldn’t be out for too long.
Draper was running with him. Drapes joined (standing still) the mids and Phillips just as I was leaving. He was listening to Cara but I’m not sure if he trained after I left. He’s not injured [spec], but [more spec] I think Draper will play next week and Phillips & Joe will fly to Adelaide. Looks like they are lightening Drape’s training loads for obvious reasons.

Hurley was walking & with the rehab group. He didn’t train the last session I attended either. He’s carrying something [spec] and trying to hang in there to provide the leadership and experience we need.

Saad looks ok but started late as he had extended massage on hammies before starting his full training.

Hooker trained fully with the backs. Guelfs trained fully with the backs.

Mozz full training with the leg bandage.

The midfield training group under caracella was Parish, Ham, Hepp (right foot only), hibbo, cutler, snelling, Langford, mcgrath, Clark, Merrett, shiel - and Phillips stood outside the drills but engaged with these mids. [spec] this looked to me as if he was preparing to play, probably v hawks, but if not next week.

[spec] Based on training I’d say Joe, Phillips & Hooker are in. Belly, Francis & Draper are out.

If they bring in some fresh mids, cutler & hibbo were training with the mids.

Why are you hiding this in the middle of your report?

no fully in rehab, but did a lot of jogging with drapes.
he’s not playing this week but I hope he is ok for next week.

he spent a fair bit of time after his first warm-up talking to a trainer (or Dr?) and explaining the problem he was having. but he was straight line running ok with drapes. doesn’t look too serious.

What about Smack? Did he train with forwards (not insinuating that I want him back - just curious)

Being sneaky!

full training with forwards for smack.
If Joe plays v hawks he may not back up a few days later, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw Phillips and Joe this week, and smack and drapes for the short turnaround v weagles, and then Joe back in v cats.
How many can Drapes can play of next 5? maybe 3?

Would depend if they bring Phillips in to share the workload. I’d love to see him play all of them but you’re right, 3 may be realistic.

Yesssss. Training reports are always the goods.

Comeeee on down JD.

Hard to believe we are in a position to consider rotating all those talls considering most have been unavailable for the year. Absolutely need to look after Draper.

Interesting Hep kicking only on his right - choice to work on or deliberately avoiding left for recovery? Wonder how far off he is, obviously in full training should mean conditioning essentially cherry ripe.

Thanks for the report.

With another footy frenzy and 5 day break this week I wouldn’t be worried about players like Draper doing very little at training
