Training report - Sat 7 Jan 2023

Yeah but he’d be an absolute dynamite track and field athlete though. And Touk’s arms aren’t helping him play finals.

You’d think someone who looked like that would enjoy physical contact.

Brutal but fair.

I mean it depends on genetics…

what percentage body fat was prismall wearing?

Agree. Extensive foot injury = behind in fitness. He is now cleared to train and even finishing mid pack as a starting base is pleasing for me

Put you both 10m apart and a footy in the middle I’ve got a fair guess who would be shirking body contact…

Yup, Shiel.

That wasn’t really your original statement though.

So you could round that up by saying they were not great top 10 picks, if you’re advocating it could take 5+ years to know if they are any good or not, that’s pretty bloody painful

Take it easy Froffking

I would say the majority of 200cm players take that long to properly develop and realise their potential.

Of the top 10 in 2020 there was also Thilthorpe at pick 2 (playing a lot of SANFL at 200cm), Jamara (#1, agile third tall), Grainger-Barrass #6 (key-back, playing some VFL, out of form and of the 1s last year) and McDonald #4 (shown spurts of talent but also played 2s and dropped for GF).

Also, I scanned the draft and see no rucks (~200cm players) or KPP taken after Cox or Reid who have passed them. And if they had, they’d be an outlier to the norm.

None of the top 10 guys have cemented themselves yet outside of Pick #1 and have played plenty of 2s for their team. I wouldnt expect much from them for another couple of years either.

We need to take emotion out of it and let our young talls develop.

Martin will have a good year, already I rate him as one of our most professional guys.
Perkins is surprising me, maybe this means he gets more midfield time and pushes ahead of the other young mids - Hobbs/Tsatas/Caldwell etc
Massimo has work to do to get in the round 1 side. with his kicking he could stay there, looks in good nick, will come down to match play. He’s still only a youngster really.

As others said not worried about Cox, time trial given injury interrupted, good he went out there and did it.

Tex is a small forward not the end of the world he was slow given foot problems, but Contract year for Tex and McBride.

Stringer, I just want injury free for start of year.

Didnt get a full preseason - Jones/Reid slightly concerning. (given I think endurance base build would help them at AFL level, as a strength for them).

Parish is in good nick will be fine. (See the photos on the boat with Dev)

Draper up and about during the weight session was good footage too …gotta pump it up…feel he is in for a massive year.

I complain about not winning the Lotto despite never buying a Lotto ticket.

The best part about getting a lotto ticket is not checking it and dreaming about what you would do with it. Although these days $1,000,000 doesn’t seem like that much of a windfall, it still would be nice, but need to keep working at least part time. $15,000,000 yeh thats a lot and I would retire.

Not worried about Mass “Destruction”. brought in quickly once recruited… first AFL preseason. Watch him go to the next level.
