Whoops, spelling went a bit haywire there, I don’t know what I was thinking.
But yes, I’m pretty sure that’s what Hird had, although i don’t know of the severity.
Tom hird seems like he could make a big jump this year. Any chance on what you’ve seen
Can we get @theDJR to comment on the prevalence of easterlies in Melbourne in general, and Tulla in particular?
Wind rose as requested. Half of stuff-all from the east, and the bit that is easterly is usually low speed. No wind at all is significantly more likely than easterly.
But yes, I’m pretty sure that’s what Hird had, although i don’t know of the severity.
Yes, that’s right.
Matthew Egan did it as well, badly, prematurely ended his career.
Thanks again mate. Rapt to hear that Heppell is progressing well (along with Francis for that matter). Hopefully Ridley, Stringer, Perkins, etc are back into full training next week.
Do you remember seeing if Cox was on a wing during the match sim? And whether Cahill & Stewart were still being used in defence?
Yes to all three. We were discussing today whether Cox is a chance for a round 1 debut, and while I still think he has some things to work on it’s looking more possible as time goes on.
The fact that he’s even in the conversation is really encouraging, imo. Cheers
Thanks @nackers.
Any idea what’s up with Perkins, Ridley and Stringer?
The modified group is small but very significant.
It’s been reported that Ridley has a slight calf, both he and Perkins stretched out a bit more today than they have previously. No idea with Stringer, although he is also doing more as time goes on.
Thanks again
I think he has to be in the conversation, particularly if his competition is Hams and Cutler.
He’s such a great athlete and seems to effortlessly move into space on the wing out of nowhere. He’s still a little inconsistent with this kicking for me, but seems to be improving and will no doubt get better with the intensity of practice at training.
Then it’s really just a matter of understanding and implementing the running and defensive patterns.
But I think at this stage of his career the wing will suit him perfectly, and he could even turn into a bit of a weapon early on if all things go well.
The club should advertise when training is going to be held. Even though you have to watch from behind a fence, some fans may still appreciate this and turn up
@nackers still not allowed on the boundary fence?
Nope, and no likelihood of that changing in the near future from what I’ve heard.
We actually had a bit of a chat today with Xav as he was walking around the ground but I didn’t think to ask him.
This is getting a bit silly in my opinion.
What’s going to happen at practice matches with a crowd?
Surely they can simply say players won’t be able to sign stuff and observers must keep at least say 5m from players.
Will be interesting to see how Stewart goes in the backline, as he reads the ball well and is a beaitiful kick, but his forward body on body craft is not a strong suit - making me wonder if he was really a CHB.
Cox could be top 2 of his draft class. He’s the one I think we’ll look back on.
200cm+ winger that is an elite runner with pace that can drift forward or back. He is also a good kick. If he works on his contested marking and tackling, then he’ll be very difficult to stop.
I like the look of all three of them to be honest. Perkins and Reid also look very promising, I couldn’t say who is even likely to be the best out of them yet, but I would be very surprised if any of them are a bust.
Yep agreed. I also really like the look of Eyre. I think we’ve selected at least 4 players that will make it at AFL level IMO.
The only players I’ve been this confident with in the last decade are McGrath, Daniher and Heppell.
Waterman does look nuggety
