Training report - TUESDAY 9 March 2021

Any sign of Kaine Baldwin?

Was mentioned earlier… no sighting

thanks @nackers, was good to have a chat after the charity game on sunday aswell as @Captain_Jack. Good to hear the goal practice session happened.

I think Stringer struggled coming back from injury because his fitness wasn’t quite back at top level. He has been doing pretty heavy running sessions and now if he can get full training for 2 weeks should be good to go rd 1. good to hear your deeper thoughts on that?

Interesting to hear about practicing in close quarters/more degree of dificulty which then hopefully opens up in the game.

Hooker looked fine at training? A few times during game he looked like a bit of discomfort in his hip. maybe thats just something he deals with.

thanks for the report.

Yes I agree about Stringer, if he has no further setbacks he should be right to go, I can’t see the point in holding him back if he’s right.

I didn’t notice any discomfort with hooker.

Concur with all of this. When BBlitz gets around to striking a medal for meritorious service, @nackers should get the first one, closely followed by @jackie_mihocek, @CJohns and @BomberMcVeigh.

I’d add @CJohns to that group.

Thanks @Nackers, missed this yesterday.

will be interesting now we have Stringer, Redman, Zaka and Guelfi all potentially available, will be some tough calls.

If Stringer is in, means we may be able to send Hooker back if required.

Im half inclined to let the guys who have done the preseason play round 1, and make the guys who just joined full training wait until round 2.

so what happened to Guelfi ?injured?

Probably a little niggle somewhere and just being managed, he didn’t look bad.

That’s because Hurley was supposed to be playing forward and Hooker back. Now Hurley’s out for the season and Hooker has been moved forward.

Logically, if Ambrose is fit, he comes in for Stewart. If not, Hooker moves back and another kid (Perhaps Bryan) gets a game as a Forward/Ruck.

So far this season Essendon has had a forward kick 4 goals in every match.
Waterman and Hooker.
Wonder who it will be against the Hawks.
I’d like it to be Jones, would be annoying for them to see a young star kick a few, while they lack young talent.

Their hope of hopes is his new kid Koszitski? Kicked 6 in the preseason game.
Who knows he might be a flash in the pan like Ronke or a star. “could be anything”.

well said - probably the most underrated thing…if you have the skilled kickers executing this on a consistent basis - it can break most systems and open chances everywhere. I’ve seen Messi cut opposition up regularly with this for the past 10 yrs in laliga.
Our boys:
Langford - Perfect execution
Tippa - Perfect execution
Zerret - gets it half the time (hoping he can go to lang/ tippa level)
Parish - tries it (doesnt seem to have the skill or execution maybe…butchers it most time…turnover)
Smith - tries it, but too casual (no conviction - which most times ends up in a turnover)
Jye - ?? dunno yet - hoping he can join Lang / tippa/zerret level

if we have 2 or 3 in the attacking half who can execute this on a consistent basis - we’ll be sweet.

I think that’s who they took rather than Mozzie. Originally a KPD.

Yeah his lower back is cooked which ties in with hammy issues over the years. Does well to manage it and get up for games, lets hope he can get through the year. We don’t really have any replacement within our team that offers what Hooker offers when fit.

We basically have three consistently reliable field kicks in the team where you just relax as a supporter when they have the footy. Tippa, Langford and Ridley.

Agree - Ridler and hopefully franga (gets better to get to Ridley standard) - if we can have them in the backline starting the attack (however, a little nervous with this in the backline, because if its a high-risk/ high- reward manoeuvre, if its a turnover…bang!)
