Training report - TUESDAY 9 March 2021

I’ve been called many things over the years, but helpful was never one of them!

He will have been given 8-10 weeks due to having hamstring tendon involvement. It does not have to be a severe hamstring tendon injury, to receive this prognosis, a mild tendon strain/tear will do it.

Walking is not terribly stressful on your hammy. It isn’t that uncommon to be able to walk without discomfort afterwards.

I thought he said he’d be back at uni on the Gold Coast for another month while he gets his studies sorted.

yeah seemed that way from his interview on SEN. Would have been nice having him do his rehab at the hanger straight away, although sounds like the club has given him a new program which is good.

Joel Selwood?

Ahead of the annual Captains’ Day, all club leaders have made their predictions in a number of categories.

Which seven other clubs do you think can make this year’s top eight?
(18 times seven selections).

17 – Brisbane Lions, Geelong Cats, Port Adelaide, Richmond
15 – West Coast Eagles, St Kilda
9 – Western Bulldogs
8 – Collingwood
4 – GWS GIANTS
2 – Gold Coast SUNS
1 – Carlton, Essendon, Fremantle, Hawthorn, Melbourne

Sooooo… Sydney, Adelaide and Norf should be relegated so the VFL can have 25 teams in it.

I think it’s a 50-50, but I’ve liberated myself of expectations in 2021

Stringer yes. Zerk no.

Hopefully was Selwood.

Could draw the inference that Geelong were really having a crack if it was

That was my guess as well.

Positive signs if so and good feedback for the team.

Watching AFL 360 and we aren’t on anyone’s radar.

They did a segment on how frequently teams finish outside the 8 (and sometimes well outside it) and they bounce back. A number have finished in the top 4 the following year, some have comfortably made the 8 etc.

Asked who they thought could do that this year.

  • Dees, Carlton, Gold Coast, Freo were the popular choices.

Also covered that second year coaches get that bounce of a team (and have done so in recent years) so they mentioned potentially Freo and Carlton are the options.

They also covered how people shouldn’t rule Hawthorn out.

At least Essendon truly have no expectations placed upon them this year.

Good it means we will surprise everyone

Besides when they need some clicks, journos are sick of talking about essendon.

Drugs saga then failure under woosha after plenty of hype

From the afl website:

“ But new Bombers senior coach Ben Rutten told AFL.com.au that the 19-year-old (Reid) will play in a VFL scratch match on Friday and press his claims to be picked in the round one clash against Hawthorn the following week”

Is there training today?

Thanks for watching AFL 360 and giving us the run down rather than me having to watch it. A true act of self sacrifice

Surely Reid won’t play? he is a been pole

Yeah I don’t think he will from what I’ve read

Also basically ruled out Stringer for round 1, which is not surprising I guess.

Forwardline lacks some experience for mine Hooker stays up there.

Francis can play FB he needs the responsibility to bring his confidence up and deliver which he has the talent to do.

BZT can play back pocket and is capable of doing the job there
