Training Sat 17th Feb - Family Day

Most of us want both, like the other successful clubs. Fans want to be immersed with the club and want the club to give them more access and visibility. You only have to see how popular some of these fan podcasts are becoming to know that (Eg: The Lunchtime Catchup).

Other clubs are doing it better, much better. Essendon led the AFL in engaging its supporter base in the 1990’s / 2000’s. Kevin Sheedy embraced it, wanted to spread Essendon everywhere. We’re currently now back at the opposite end on engaging our national fanbase. And that’s a pity for those of us who remember so fondly those days when Essendon was an extroverted, open, pioneering and engaged Club to its fans across Australia.

I agree but where did all go wrong ?

We just need to buy Marvel stadium, all those rich Bomber supporters need to bank roll it.

I really don’t see much difference between Dingly and Tulla except Tulla has a bigger nearby airport and more wind.

Saints had the same problem then ended up moving back to Morrabbin.

I can understand that iam more in the side that 95 percent of fans and members wouldn’t attend these days and what really drives membership and revenue is winning games of football

Yes but when you are ■■■■ then you need a backup plan

Entice people/families. Sausage sizzle, icy poles, drinks. Give kids a raffle ticket. Buys them a sausage, drink or icy pole. Not $20 hamburgers and $15 beers.
Cost phark all but would bring families. Did I mention the coffee van before? Mr Whippee?
Free stickers etc.
Photos with players.
That’s a full rebuild.
Make The Hangar a place to visit. Racing Victoria have a massive Family Day! All of the above with rides etc.
Races still go ahead.
You can DM me Sheeds. Happy to make it an event!

I’ve mentioned it before but they need a big restaurant/bar obviously efc themed for away games or ways for people to watch games together on the big screen. Get that social club feel happening again. Somewhere to go and celebrate a win or dissect a cruel loss and blame dodoro.

Do you mean at the hanger or in the cbd?

Without outlandish prices so the regular Joe can attend. Create that GF feel but for every interstate game.

At hangar so it’s a social club like windy hill.

Sort of like the venue at windy hill?, do we need another venue?

Esky is welcome…maybe a stretch too far.

I think the hangar needs one

To improve the atmosphere and make it a club that members gravitate to, there needs to be some better facilities, eg., a small grandstand for members and their families providing seating and shelter from wind, rain and sun plus an elevated viewing area. It wouldn’t hurt to have a few players each week, even if only for 15 minutes, to go up to the grandstand and mingle with supporters. These steps would improve the atmosphere and sense of ownership enormously.

Also, I feel like the whole social club thing has been done over by the ability to stream games.

Back in my late teens, (legal) online streaming of games wasn’t a thing yet, so if I wanted to watch non-FTA games, I’d generally go to a pub.

Nowadays, can just watch the game on my phone.

ADD: Ohh, and the professionalism of players. Next to no chance they pop in after a game nowadays. That used to be a big drawcard of the social club, right?

Feed them and they will come. Subsidised prices of course. Or do people still do the hotdogs in a thermos and the coke bottles premixed?
