it does say on the AFL website that we expect him.to be back for the pre season games which probably means someone at the club has said exactly that to a reporter

Apparently the club was a bit unaware. He was meant to be at photo day, didn’t show up, they then found out he was in a plane, borderline flying perhaps.
It doesn’t mean he’s not coming back, but I don’t think anyone knows for sure when he will be back. If you’re a Twitter hack you could call that indefinite.

surprised Merrett hasnt missed a game in the last 48, thought he had a few head knocks…??
Interesting that he was playing in the game practice on Sat 8th and already gone OS on the 11th. Doesn’t sound good.
Or potentially a family issue triggered a sudden departure (I don’t know just speculating).
Hopefully he is ok.

Yep but he’s got up the following week. Last game missed was round 21 2017 as far as i know.
