Conor is one of the players that bring fans in through the turnstiles. When he does crazy things that come off, we are all gobsmacked, but then he does crazy things that go horribly awry.
But he is no Eddie Betts, he doesn’t actually play to the crowd and he is very intense. He does something magic, then brushes off the congratulations and goes back to his position.
I don’t know. I love what he does, but I am not sure if I would like Betts or Akermanis style celebrations though.
Wait till Conor has put through his seventh on Anzac Day if you want to see some celebrations.
You single out Joe amongst that group?
That whole front line needs to have a good look in the mirror.
Could take a leaf out of the captains book.
Burns told them to shave off their sideburns
Mmmmm, … if he can add the strings needed to his bow to make it work, … he’ll be a fkn nightmare for any defender playing on him.
I would dread manning up the tricky fcker!
“It’s the same with (McDonald-Tipungwuti) … he’s more likely to stop dead and look around and use the ball, as opposed to Conor, who once he gets momentum will probably just keep going.”
Now that’s an accurate assessment from Woosha
So, it’s McKenna back of forward now?
Back for me.
He has improved in all aspects of his game, so that now he is a pretty good defender, tackles ok, is ok in the air, spoils ok; but it is when he gets the ball that he is elite. He runs and creates, and kicks to a target just about as well as anyone we have.
How is he gong to use the run and carry and hitting targets as a small forward?
Sure he will kick round corners like a maniac, but you are less likely to run and bounce and pick out a lead coming up from a forward pocket than you are bursting out of defence.
To me, all we would doing is negating his greatest assets.
Tippa with a calf injury
Bugger at least it’s not hammy related
Yeah off half back again. He has a kicking action that is very pleasing to the eye I must say. The one kick he did get in that short full ground match sim he turned it over though unfortunately.
He can still move through the midfield, and from there he’ll still be able to run and carry and do solos or whatever. I’ll wait and see as to whether it works out, but it could be a good thing because then we get to fit one more guy in defence - perhaps Ridley.
No nothing that was obvious. He ran laps on his own after he’d done some work with the modified group. My guess is it’s nothing serious.
His default position should be back but if things a tough down back he can be moved forward
it sounds like conor is more so learning a forward craft so he can be swung forward at times. that’s what it sounds like to me anyway
I thought before Connor came to Essendon in the trial match he kicked 4 goals and did well in the vfl kicking quite a few? Clearly has a sense for kicking goals. Curious to see how he goes as a hff.
If we want to up the ante on playing crazy ball for the forward 50 then Conor is your man.
The other thing is that when you ■■■■ up doing crazy ■■■■ off half back it can really hurt the team but ■■■■■■■ up trying to do something crazy up forward changes the risk / reward equation completely
Probably helps with recovery. Takes the pain away.
I think Conor kicked 4.3 and was BOG, for an Irish side versus an Australian U18 side in a hybrid game during the year we drafted him.
Agreed, unless he goes completely bonkers as a forward in JLT. Unlikely considering most of his teammates will still be on holidays
