Training Tuesday 18/3/14

I think that injuries aside the players have a new level of fitness and will run out games (and hopefully the season) we'll. North plays a bit like Richmond with last quarter fade outs which may be the ***** in their armour that we exploit.

Swear filter has gone ape.

Many thanks for the report, and all your work over the preseason, JM.

JM IS RACIST.

cheers Jackie. Pumped for friday

JM you are legend for the informative training posts - highlight of the day.

In your opinion, after watching training all summer:

a) Which of Gleason, Z. Merrett & Ashby will debut on Friday & why?  Bomber seems to think all 3 have a bright future.

B) Which player has improved the most from the start of pre-season until now?

My personal opinion is that Ashby while promising has had a little bit of trouble adjusting to the pace of senior football. Of the three Gleeson is the most improved and is a standout with his speed and strangely despite his slender build he blocks and shepherds.  If Bomber decides to play two newcomers Zac with his pace, tackling and ball winning ability would be the obvious choice.

On another note, I was surprised not to see Edwards feature in the NAB challenge. Any insights as to what the coaches want him to work on?

Not really.  It may be something related to protecting his body from overwork/hard contact or it may be an issue unrelated to this.  It would be unfair of me to speculate further.

Slap dash training reflecting mentally absent players. Understandable but lid needs to stay on. Will be welded on by qtr time. Going to be a harrowing season.

Thanks Jackie for all your wonderful pre season training posts, it’s such a great independent insight into how things are progressing.

Given all the event of the last few months I think we will see a very slow start to the season, wouldn’t be surprised to see a loss to norf. I am also quite disappointed with the progression of some players in the 3+ year bracket Kav, NOB etc. I think for us to take the next step they really need to be pushing hard for selection.

Love it.

In all honesty, the match thread is going to be some beer laryness

So the plan this year is to start of slowly, ease into the year, maybe come out 3-3 by round six, win another 4 games by round 12 and then have our usual fade out in the second half of the year winning 2 out of the final ten games.

Outstanding work as usual Jackie and thanks for keeping us all informed during the off season.

Did Zaka and Hocking train, as I remember they were notable absences last time we had a training report?

Thanks in advance.

Just as long as we are not having to dry our eyes mate.

10/10. The irony of it all is that there will be some empty cans having helped me ease the pain by the time the game has finished I suspect.

how did dell and stein train?

fixed

Hopefully the boys have a couple of days off now with just a light skills session on Friday before the match.

M'ship is already 50k despite looking crap in the pre season, I think once they are back on the big stage and the adrenalin kicks in they will be fine.

Skills have been a bit ordinary but it's not like we haven't been getting a mountain of opportunities, all we need is a couple less kids and a few more seasoned players and the extra polish should have seen us looking a lot better.

Most teams are a bit rusty this time of year, no big deal.

I don't about that. If you look at the message rather than method...
