I first went in 1974. Kuta had no made roads, no building over single storey, and it was just fantastic. Hired motorbikes, got a licence and drove all over the joint. No drunk yobbos and not many tourists at all.

Ubud was just arts and hippy heaven.

Progress has not improved Bali.

In all my living years, that’s the first time I’ve ever seen that combination of words.

My memories of Bali belly do not include any fun component.

Progress (read rampant capitalism) rarely improves any nice place.

I was a bit exhausted keeping up with Flipper and friends.

It was a bit bizarre really, just on daybreak

And a hundred tourists boats hooning around looking for dolphins

Usually just under a year out they will go on sale.
Keep checking regularly and wait for sales periods but ideally you wouldn’t want to leave it much closer than 5-6 months out

Not international but overseas, as I once said to the girl at Currumbin parrot’s show.

Coming over to Melbourne for the state of origin game. 2 nd night, who’s been to the Kabberet show at the Meat Market, north Melbourne? Worth going? Staying in Collins St. Cheers in advance.

We went last year and it was a really exciting and fun show. Hard to get tickets this year I was told.

Didn’t see the game, but the Basilica Cistern constructed in 532 AD by Byzantine Emperor Justinian I, is the largest surviving underground water reservoir in Istanbul. Located near Hagia Sophia, it features 336 marble columns.
The Medusa heads are sideways and upside down so you don’t perish when you look into her eyes.

It’s an amazing place, but I did find the coloured lights a bit naff.

I think it’s the effect of the jet water on your date from their toilets.

Mine was sparkling.

Puts you in a good mood for the rest of the day.

We are now in the middle of the mountains in central Bali, place called Munduk. Very quiet and serene.

Mrs Fox is doing the spiritual stuff like yoga and QI Gong, I am in the pool compiling a game plan for the team.

Loved the cisterns when I visited Istanbul 10 years ago. They weren’t as well lit though:
