I’m consulting the brains trust of the bomberblitz travel thread. Anyone have tips on a good travel credit/debit card? Was going to google it but CBF.

I use WISE and Revolut, both good, no issues

Wise is great

Wise is good. Also Macquarie. They’re both debit cards so you have to keep them topped up. Macquarie doesn’t charge a fee for ATM withdrawals, but it usually only works in ATMs associated with banks.

Avoid Euronet ATMs at all costs. They are everywhere and a complete ripoff.

Thanks legends. Some people suggested that wise/revolut were slow with transfers, anyone notice that?

I just realised we had an idle UBank account as well, and they seem to not charge any fees.

No. I didn’t have any delays with wise.

I use UBank debit card for ATMs & CBA Smart Awards credit card for other purchases. These have no fee for o/s transactions and seem to convert at the market rate. There are other similar options on offer.
The only benefit in cards that you load up with o/s currency is that you can lock in rates. I prefer a credit card for better fraud protection from the bank.

Same, all good with Wise. I was transferring and topping up my wife’s card when she was abroad recently and she got it straight away.

Where/what would be the place to visit for 19-20 year olds in Vietnam.?

There are better places in Thailand for young bucks to learn a few things.

Yeah quick for me, best available rate on conversion. Possibly depends on the bank you’re transferring from but most seem to be fairly immediate these days

To do what?
Partying, drinking, having a good time etc?

They’re pretty low key individuals (with respect to partying)

So a bit of culture, good food, probably suited more to city that remote travel

Both HaNoi and HCMC are awesome in that regards.
DaNang is also a good option if you want some culture, amazing food and some good bars on the beach

I top up Revolut in the app with Apple Pay from my Australian bank account and it’s instant.

Any blitzers got any South Korean travel tips?

After successfully dipping my toe into Japan I’ve been thinking about South Korea, maybe finish with the ferry from is it Busan to Japan then return to Oz?

@Aceman is it my imagination or are there a lot more 747s flying around at the moment?

Only freighters. No commercial 747’s fly here anymore
