Both of those things are exactly what I am looking for in a cup of tea.

Quite a few blokes have been on him apparently.

I always wait for the inevitable when someone tells me they went on a cruise, but everyone always says how good it was. If it was in the Mediterranean or Caribbean it's be awesome. Anywhere in the pacific you'd spend half the time just getting to from countries

Been on two in the Pacific. SEcond one to PNG, Solomons and Vanuatu was crap. Not helped by a dose of typhoid at the Kokoda Trail (I wasn't affected...because I didn't go), a tropical cyclone from Vanuatu to Sydney, the air-con being put out of action for 36 hours and ending up with pneumonia.

First wasn't terrible. I was only 24 then, and it was much better...Noumea, Fiji and Auckland. I certainly would only consider Mediterranean or Caribbean/Panama Canal in future, and not really planning on either.

I've got a trip to Thailand planned in July. The Mrs has a conference in Chiang Mai, and we thought it might be good to take advantage of her flights being paid for and some free accomodation, and tack a holiday on the end. We've got a one year old and a three year old, and I'm planning on taking them up to meet her once her conference finishes.

We are planning on being away for 10-12 days (including 2-3 days stopover in Bangkok). Is it worth spending the remaining time in Chiang Mai, or would we be better off visiting somewhere else as well?

With the little ones, probably a good idea to head down to the coast and spend some down time in a beach resort with a kids club (ie not Pattaya). That way everyone gets a holiday and the Mrs doesn't spend the entire time in the one place.

Your missus a smack mule WD?

I haven't been to Chiang Mai in 12 odd years. Great to experience the culture of Thailand, however, we travelled out to towns and villages for aid at the time. The only touristy stuff we did that might entertain the kids was the night market and the zoo (which was great). Not sure what you would do to pass the time with the 2 little ones.

Research scientist - so more likely to be a meth cook.

Need some advice from you seasoned travellers.

We're going over to NZ for a look around in a few weeks, and was wondering the best way to keep your phone working. I've heard that enabling international roaming is hidiously expensive so I was considering buying a prepaid sim when I get there.

Any advice?

Travelling on an international flight with a 1 year old and a 3 year old and no Mrs?

Yeah, sounds like fun. Good luck with that.

I'm deciding on who I should drug - me or the kids.

I have five days to use up in Italy this August starting in Milan and ending up in Ancona. No desire to go to Rome, Florence or Venice (already been). Where should I go?

Just bought some cheap tickets to KL return with the fam in March.

We want to do KL for a few days then head to an island or something like that.

Any suggestions? Don't want resortville but don't want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere with no options for food etc.
