It goes well past Auskick. Kids are not allowed any tackling in U8 & U9 & then stand up tackles only for U10. Plenty of kids have worked out already that as soon as you are tackled you drop to the ground & get a free kick.
NRL on now. Ive seen a spear tackle, and a three on one tackle where the players arms were pinned. The third guy grabbed his head and pushed/guided it into the ground for a blood nose.
I’ve said it before, but there just has to be another way the AFL can protect itself from future concussion-related litigation (if that is indeed the issue). Many other sports with arguably and demonstrably greater risks do it.
I think Bedford’s starting position was a little further back so he arrived with more of a diving lunge, and didn’t have much of a chance to get his lower body in a position to swivel forward
he doesn’t have the body mass of a Cripps to help gain control of the tackle.
Yeah I see where your coming from though I think even in a full dive you should be able to tuck your knees in if you get a hold of them high enough. If you get them around the waist right on the edge of your dive i can see how you’d be hard pressed to execute this technique
