The AFLPA? You mean the one lead by the player representative Patrick Dangerfield who coincidentally just avoided any ban for driving Sam Walsh’s head into the ground who got off because he’s a good guy and put on a convincing performance at the tribunal?

Literally two weeks ago they set the precedent mid-season AGAIN after flipping and flopping both ways a couple of times this year already.

Not hard to imagine how frustrating and confusing it actually is for spectators, let alone the players who have moving and invisible targets to hit each week. No f’king wonder Scott asked for clarity on what the AFL would be cracking down on this Friday!

GWS preparing to do some heavy lifting for the sake of the rest of the competition. Thanks guys.

What we need is to see a case like the Wright-Cunningham case, but where the oncoming big guy doesn’t take covering action at the last minute as Wright did.

See whether they blame the little guy for getting in the big bloke’s way.

And they need to suspend players faking a bang to the head a la Steven May.

Surprised that Bedford didn’t get an extra 2 weeks for laughing at them.

Helmets. It will be like grid iron one day with full body armour and helmets.

Not sure how successful they’ll be.

As we learnt from the Heeney incident, the Appeals Board isn’t there to re-hash the evidence presented at the Tribunal and make a (different) decision, it’s there to assess whether or not the Tribunal’s decision was a reasonable one. Their job is to determine if the Tribunal acted reasonably in terms of being presented with evidence and making a decision based on that evidence; one that is consistent with their own Guidelines. It’s not the Appeals Board’s job to determine whether the Laws of the Game\Tribunal Guidelines are actually sensible to begin with. As long as the Tribunal operated within their guidelines, chances are the Appeals Board will conclude that their decision was reasonable.

To paraphrase what someone said regarding the Heeney incident; under the rules he deserves suspension, but the rules are stupid.

AFLPA… who?

Essendone edge, our edge as soft as butter.

The guy’s own teammate (and captain) was one of the players unfortunately concussed and even he is prepared to come out the very same week and say the expectations are now at the point of being ridiculous. Says a bit.

There is a point he could have held him up.
But he didn’t and that’s the second action. And as a result he gave him a concussion.

Bedford on the other hand was a joke. Like the bump, if you choose to tackle and hit the head then youre cooked.

The tackle is dead.

I thought the game had gone down the toilet with all the dropping and throwing of the ball. It’s fundamentally changed from what I watched and played growing up.

But now we are going to have some bizarre situations with tackling. Even last week it looked like players were bumping opponents to dislodge the ball rather than a tackle.

Game is at a genuine cross roads.

I have only seen the Bedford one, and I took some convincing that a mate had the right footage.

If that is 3 weeks, then tackling is like the bump now - only legitimate if you’re lucky enough the tackled player’s head doesn’t touch the ground.

I’m happy for the suspensions because the relevant club social media teams have been elite.
