Count to 3…in that time the tackle is done; it’s over. If you were correct not one player would be getting sanctioned for this; instead it is still being debated and challenged at the tribunal. Maybe you should ask yourself the same question.
Which pretty much completely ignores the point that heads can also flex from left to right and not just forward and back. Always thought rolling them onto the side was a load of bollocks.
Slam your opponents temple into the turf, or give your opponent a lobotomy. Not sure which is worse.
The solution to this is to play AFL games on spongy floors
Count to 3 and the tackle is done. It is comfortably less than 3s actually, but lol what a meaningless post.
As was stated a few posts above, there are 100s of tackles being executed correctly every weekend. And you know what, they all have that same amount of time. Who gives a ■■■■ how long it takes.
99% are executed safely. This guy did not. Now he has 3 weeks to train how to do it correctly next time.
You asked how he was supposed to tackle him. Um, the same all the other blokes are doing it. If you don’t want to pay attention, that is fine, carry on with the rant.
No it doesn’t. Slide down beside the bloke you are tackling, like they are taught, his head can do whatever it wants, it’s not being ridden in to the turf.
It’s just being ridden into the turf on its side.
The whole reason why they don’t want to have people being driven front on is purely for the optics. It looks horrific. On the side? Eh at least they’re not face planting.
I’m not convinced rotating them does anything at all.
Chill out man. If I didn’t have a point then why is this tackle headline news with the AFL media? They’re all debating it and most saying what could he realistically do differently?! My point is hardly outrageous!
it is their job to generate interest/outrage/clicks, not to provide informed commentary…
Apologies if my point was too aggressive.
Every week, we witness run-down tackles of this kind. Its a free kick in the back every day of the week. He & others will know better than to tackle in that manner in the future. Any further in the dirt his head would be in China.
Wut
I dont get the “it was a good tackle” argument, he pins both arms and drives right into his back. Is three weeks harsh? Yes, but lets not pretend it was a good tackle that resulted in Sinn being concussed by pure bad luck.
This would have the added bonus that players could continue to throw the ball with gay abandon as a lot already do with impunity.
It is not outcome based for some. How many of our players (including Merrer) have got weeks for the potential to cause an injury. The MRO is just chook lotto on any penalties.
North won’t be appealing the suspension further.
That’s interesting because Tom Morris yesterday reckoned they were going to appeal. He did say that they would only do so if they could argue error of law. Clearly the lawyers have said ‘don’t bother…we will not get this overturned’!
Geez I dunno. I’ve made that tackle and been tackled like that a hundred times over. Never once felt that to be a malicious action. 3 weeks for that seems way overs - especially compared to some of the suspensions that are being handed out. I guess I’m getting close to my “old man yells at cloud” era.
The suspension is overs but its not “OMG HE GOT SUSPENDED FOR A PERFECT TACKLE”.
As soon as I saw it I knew it would go.
They have got to change the grading that concussion is automatically severe. A tackle like that shouldn’t result in a 3 week penalty.
It was a perfect tackle.
It was always going to get weeks.
These things are both true.
This is the issue for me.
I have no issue with punishing the action.
But three weeks or none is ridiculous.
