Tribunal/MRO from 2023 - Choose Your Own Adventure continues

Looked like he hit the ball, if he didn’t he could be done. But you got to be able to contest the ball in the air.

" Meanwhile, Sydney has told AFL.com.au that defender Nick Blakey passed his initial Head Injury Assessment after a contentious incident involving Essendon captain Zach Merrett late in the game."

Of course he passed, there was nothing wrong with him. He went down like a sack of potatoes to milk the free and then he got royally peeved when the Swans staff dragged him off for a HIA late in the game. Don’t dive, don’t get taken off.

Blakely seriously needs to be suspended for faking it, there is just no way a clip with an open hand could cause that reaction

I actually think it’s the forearm that caught him and he was coming the other way, it would have rung his bell a bit

Nothing in it except manufactured AFL controversy and burley for media

It happened right Infront of me and my first thought was there was an argument that it should have been play on.

Merrett was going the ball, Blakey ran into his arm. Replay suggests free kick the right call, but nothing more.

The reaction by the Sydney players tells you all you need to know. Sometimes you can make accidental high contact. Free was paid, nothing more to it

Bit of a hot take.

Development wise for both our mids and onfield leadership amongst the rest of the group, Zach missing a week wouldn’t be a bad thing for the club.

That being said I love him and if it robbed him of a Brownlow it would be gut wrenching.

Wow…shocked….

It was never an issue.

Cleary is an AFL guy so he will be fine.

Apparently 7 just said that Merrett was cleared?

I haven’t seen the replay, but live it felt like he got the ball? What did the replay show?

He got the ball first then came into contact with Blakey

Got the ball, then looked like wrist contact to Blakeys head.
