So one guys technique was correct (Duz) but gets wiped out for 2 weeks cos the other guys technique (not Duz) is ■■■■… Yeah. Way to go rewarding bad technique AFL… ■■■■ me

Never took his eyes off the ball and reached for it with both hands. Two weeks.

Cowards constantly duck in to tackles deliberately. Free kick.

The AFL will be sued again and again for concussion issues and when they try to highlight their innocence by citing suspensions like this there will be a hindered other like examples that destroy their case.

Where is the charge against Carlton for leaving a player in the ground for 15 full minutes after a knock that is apparently serious enough to suspend a player for two weeks?

They’re not serious people.

I love Duzz and hate that he’s been suspended, but I’m not sure how you can say he’s reaching for the ball with both hands here.

Duzz obvioiusly had bad technique. He would have got off if his pre-game technique included putting on a different guernsey.

Durham has the correct technique, yes. For someone who is first to the ball, or hitting it at the same time as his opponent.

But, he wasn’t. He was well and truly second to the ball, so had to adjust his positioning accordingly. But he did not.

Honestly, how anyone is upset by this is beyond me.

The same way that this photo prior to the incident is conclusive proof that the Carlton flog in the background king hit Caldwell.

That’s a 40-7 down scoreline kind of move to try and turn a game.

Shame he needed to hit him side on. Lucky he didn’t hospitalise him.

But of note, looks like he had his shiner pre bump.

The thing is, the afl and their media lapdogs say they want ‘that action’ out of the game, but the only way to really do that is to ban the action in totality, not green light instances like the Stewart bump.

Everyone says they don’t want the bad thing…
But then want everything that leads to the bad thing…

Not drunk enough. You’re making more sense than everyone else in here.

I expected more. He’s got off lightly I reckon

How is “high impact” actually defined??? Most of the contact seemed to be shoulder to shoulder and Cerra played on. I would have thought “medium impact” and 1-week suspension seems about right.

He clearly hit him right in the head. Duz is lucky Cerra’s got a rock solid melon and a brain that can handle a rattle…

This is the point of impact. There might be a different angle that shows head contact but this look like shounder-to-shoulder. I agree that Duz made the wrong call - if Carra had gone in sideways it would have been fine but as soon as he led with his head, Duz needed to adjust. I’m just querying the grading.

This is the example of ‘medium impact’ front on contact from the ALF rules…

Impact looks worse than Durham’s hit on Cerra.

The media buried him before he went up.
A split second later Cerra would have lifted his head enough for it to be a shirtfront.
Unfortunately he didn’t and Duzz had to be suspended for the head contact.

If you have followed closely they use this to determine the impact.

At what point will players who deliberately lead with the head / duck in to tackles / blindly run in to packs be held partially accountable for the high contact they have helped “cause”?

Apparently Cerra is experiencing delayed concussion today. Could have dodged a bullet here.
