I remember a couple of years back a Collingwood player was cleared of front on bumping Hurley in the head (and sending him off the ground) as he was bending down to pickup the ball as it was bouncing along the ground. The tribunal deemed that Hurley was using a poor technique. Don’t think that excuse was used before or since, so the answer to your question is Depends on who they are playing for and against.
Duty of care lies with the second player to the ball. That’s the rule now, so regardless of how cerra went about it, the contact which glanced the head is on Durham.
We berate players for not putting their head over the ball but in the same breath we’re now critical of them for not assessing in the heat of the moment the correct angle to align their body?!?
Unfortunately in this instance, Durham is cooked.
Watching it live I thought it was identical to the Tom Green clash a few weeks ago where he got off. But considering Durham didn’t have both hands down giving him the legit out of making a fair play for the ball and combined with the speed at which he appeared to accelerate through the contact, he was always in trouble.
Maybe. But if you look at the impact frame-by-frame it’s pretty clear that most of the contact is with the shoulder. However, there may have been some glancing contact with the head… it’s hard to tell. If Cerra has suffered delayed concussion then there was clearly contact. If he hasn’t then possibly not.
If you choose to bump and you get someone in the head it’s going to result in weeks, thankfully he didn’t knock him out otherwise it would of been at least 4
That’s obviously coming from someone that’s never played. Take a look at the incident at full speed. There was NO WAY that Durham was going to do anything but hit Cera in the head because of the action of Cera. The only way he gets off is if he goes head first in as well… And ■■■■ that
Lol. Throws down the “bet you hadn’t played before line”.
Only played for 30 years. Not that it matters, as is frequently displayed, there are plenty who have played the game, yet still no idea.
No. The only way he doesn’t get suspended/hit his head, is by realising he is 2nd to the ball, and positioning himself to react to Cerras sloppy position, and to tackle him. Yes, at game speed. Just as all the other players who are not getting suspended are doing so, also at game speed. Use all the CAPS you want, won’t make that any less fact.
I mean it only happens about 20 times every match. Maybe you’ll catch up with the game soon enough.
Lol. Not if you don’t tackle him around his neck. He still has a body, hence why Durham needs to position himself accordingly. Difficult, but possible. And again happens regularly in games.
