Tribunal/MRO from 2023 - Choose Your Own Adventure continues

They were/are friends but I think the “best” mates bit is a bit of hyperbole from the Pies to lessen the chances of the hit being classed “intentional”

Wow! I didn’t think he would get that long.
Considering Maynard has advanced Brayshaw’s retirement date, he should get 4 weeks based on what Martin has received.

Awesome but we all know their lawyer will work his magic.

Hopefully the magic consists of 2 weeks down to 1.

It was a straight up fist to the face though so not sure what they’ll argue.

Yawn, ….we’ve all seen this movie before…

Should get 3 but subtract 1 because its finals.

Enter the lawyers. And he gets off because it’s finals and Collingwood.

Surely if you try to smother and knock a player out it is outside the rules, he should be suspended.

If he had of kept the body posture from the smother i would say its a football accident. But he clearly turns to bump and was off the ground so the classification is correct. Had time to change and didnt need to. That all said he will get a collingwood discount and lawyers whatever and probably get 1 week, same as merrett for staging.

It really is this simple.

If that’s the case, Maynard is not likely to reasonably foreshadow jumping in the air is likely to result in a reportable offence, because he’s 3 metres away.

Brayshaw actually changed his direction a bit that put him in the path of Maynard thus contributing to the collision. Maynard was making a genuine attempt to smother the ball. Maynard has a right to protect himself.

No case to answer

No idea how they’re adjudicating this month but Maynard makes the decision to run at great pace towards the player who has no means to protect himself because engaged in delivering the footy. Maynard proceeds to launch his mass into the air with enormous momentum, carelessly, recklessly, when there were other options, and with at least a 90% chance of a collision. It results in a huge concussion, possibly game and season altering consequences. Will get off.

Further to this, unrealistic. If he was fast enough to be close enough to realistically smother he wouldn’t have needed to jump and be out of control of his body

Edit : will get off

He hasn’t even jumped or got his arms up as Brayshaw is about to kick the ball. Never mind there’s 5 or 6m between them at this point. Maynard has to be suspended.

The tribunal doesn’t have a lot of credibility left; but, if these two get off, as I suspect, it will have none.

The media have already tried and acquitted Maynard. The tribunal is merely a formality.

Ch7 went into overdrive Thursday Night for Maynard, even though he turned his body in mid air causing the contact to the head.
Martin, surely won’t get off.

Pretty much reckon Brayshaw contributed to the issue as his run swerved into Maynards path a bit well after Maynard jumped.

Maynards attempted smoother was a legitimate footy act which at the very least forced the Brayshaw kick to go higher

Maynard has a right to protect himself.

Off

interesting because per screengrab above, hasn’t even attempted to jump yet as brayshaw is kicking.

he had alternatives, he elected to put his body into brayshaws head.
