TV show thread (2022-?)

I’ve been slowly creeping up with Severance, just watched the stunning ep7 last night. I kinda get it, but I also kinda don’t. I’m not one to dig too deep into connecting dots though, happy to ride the journey, and I think the pacing of info/reveals is pretty damn good.

The podcast is good with connecting things.

THIS

I haven’t enjoyed it as much this season.

Nothing will ever match the scenario playing out at the end of the first season

I’m still loving it.

It has gone quite dark the last few eps, maybe lost some of that dark humour that used to accompany it last season, but it’s very, very well set up for this finale. And the finale is said to be running 76 mins, so a lot can happen.

Binge watched Adolescence on Netflix last night. Four episodes with four continuous scenes. I started watching without knowing a thing about it. Outstanding show. 9.5/10. Highly recommend!

This a another cop show. We have seen millios most just copying other precursors.

I like this for the setting, N Ireland, backdrop of the troubles and sectarian violence which has been real for many of us.

It is gritty tv and run some same lines to other show but dow others lines in a new fashion. Strong characters which is always a plus but a very real backdrop. God loves Aust./

SBS worth a crack

Okay posted this in the movie thread. Swoodley smacked me down with grace and mirth for wrong thread. This one is a winner for culrual difference and pace.

If you like Japan or ever have benn there get absorbed by Tokyo Vice. Great cast and themes just extract you as a witness.

Watched this series based on this thread and really enjoyed it. Great TV. Watching Rogue Heroes too from recommendations in this thread.

Thanks G ^, I haven’t scrolled to far back so may be repeating quality posters choices. I have lived in the fotty darkside for many years before venturing over here.

Will risk another but suspect it too may have been mentioned. Just excellent.

SBS again but even the missus and her beau will go quiet and watch this one unfold.

Has the John Le Carre touch, he did write it, so for those that remember the spy who came in from the cold, R burton, will love this genre and the modern take on his story telling.

Second season coming soon so get up to speed

Yeah, it’s a masterpiece. Best thing I’ve watched in a long long time. Ep. 3 and 4 (especially) is as good as television gets imo. Superb acting and masterful direction.

Timely topic as well.

This was one of my favorites from last year. Definitely has a different vibe to most series of this kind.

Have you checked out Irish series Kin, also on SBS? Quite different to this but equally as good.

This one’s been around a while and been referred to here several times.

If you like spy/political stuff all of US series Homeland is now streaming on SBS. The first 2 seasons are excellent, the remaining 6 a bit more variable. Still worth the effort, though.

Thx caldon. I figured it was too good to hsv bn missed but also thought it migh pay to remind those who have missed it. Second season is apparently coming.

I will get around to homeland … have not as yet. Nicely said first two seasons. Good to know when to stop. :+1:

Homeland is one of the most inconsistent series I’ve ever watched. Just when you think it’s dead, the next season is better.

Plus, the series finale is absolute top shelf.
