TV Show Thread (Not English language)

Anyone watched/watching Sleeping Dog on Netflix.

German police show.

Watched the 1st episode which was just ok, gave the 2nd episode a go, was much better, then on the 3rd and was hooked.

Thankfully only 6 episodes.

Watched the last 3 episodes today. Was entertaining, an easy watch and kept you guessing, enjoyed it for what it was.

I’ll check it out.

Just started on Deadloch before. Bit OTT for me. Apparently the Seppos love it, which is a major red flag for me. Got halfway through ep 1.

Sequel to Inspector Rex?

I don’t know, I know of Inspector Rex but never watched it.

Watched the first ep just then. I’d rate the first ep much higher than you did.

It’s based on an Israeli show. Can’t imagine who the Israeli cops could have framed.

Not so sure. Wouldn’t be the first long running series to successfully manage major cast changes. There’s already been quite significant cast changes in this since the beginning.

As much as I enjoy this must admit I prefer a bit of snow and ice in my Scandi.

Are you sure about that year? SBS has the version five years earlier

There seem to be two series: Paris Police 1900 and 1905.

Two sequential series…1900 and 1905.

Ku’damm, the post-war West German series has 3 separate series, set in ‘56, ‘59 and ‘63.

Three series on the decline of East Germany has series set in ‘83, ‘86 and ‘89.

Largely sequential but common casting, and reflecting the immediate period they’re set.

Sonja Gerhardt plays key roles in both German trilogies, but not in the third Deutschland series.

I thought maybe that was the case. But *1905 is not on SBS so had not seen it available

It’s probably linked with 1900, because it certainly is on SBS.

Hmmm. The feed I get often has the 1900 but never seen the 1905 series advertised. As you say, they probably link them.

I received the email from SBS, because Paris Police was on my favourites list. Look up the episodes, and you may well see them.

I enjoyed it a lot.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Probably a bit late to the party on this one as the show has been available for a couple of years now on Netflix, but…

Italian show Baby. 3 seasons. Netflix.

Two girls in the final year of secondary school get involved in a prostitution ring to fund pretty extravagant lifestyles. Obviously get caught up with some pretty shady characters along the way. Set in Rome and based on a true story.

That sounds interesting. Added to the list!

Bingeworthy to say the least.

Finished the 39 episode series High Heat. All finished up, Mexican telenovela style, but with no explanation of why there was a network of corrupt police supporting Hugo. It didn’t seem to have any rationale, power-wise, to allow him to murder at will and convict an innocent man in Texas.

Halfway through The Five Juanas, five girls called Juana (4 deadset stunners) who find they have an identical birthmark and that their father is aiming to be a senior politician. 2 of the main characters, Federico and Caridad, were major characters in High Heat as Poncho and Leonora.

Ready to give a couple of German series on Stan a try now the cricket has given us a break.

The Fox (Stan) is about a former East German spy who becomes a private detective.

And the second series of Domina has dropped on Stan. It is English language but covers topics unlikely to be appreciated on the other thread. Domina is Livia, the wife of Augustus, the first Roman emperor. Livia and Augustus have been in the east for 3 years and return to a Rome in chaos and contrived famine. Livia got a pretty bad rap in I, Claudius, as the conniving mother of Tiberius.

I’ve been sick since Thursday so I’ve just finished binging The Pride of Glory on Netflix. It’s a Columbia telenovela. Not bad but a bit cheesy. The main character guy was a hottie.
