It seems Uncle Andy has a petulant desire to be aligned with “dodgy” enterprises. Since leaving the AFL, Andy has experienced a lot of bad luck, it is hard to get good staffers, this hasn’t prevented him from still being part of the “boy’s club.” Although now with the Crown Casino problems, it seems his name maybe somewhat tainted. But will he be bought undone for any of his actions or will someone else take the fall??? That is the question.

My step-father told me that Melbourne had tried to set up a casino in the 1930’s, but it was knocked on the head by the then govt. The reason? The govt. could not ensure they could keep organized crime figures out of the place and take over the de facto running of the place. So here we are, almost 100 years later, proving the wisdom of their decision. I have been to a few casinos, but have never gambled in one, it is a mug’s game. In Macao l used the Venetian’s excellent free bus service to get from the China border gate to the airport, via the actual casino.

The reason Packer sold his interests in his Macao casino was the Chinese govt started cleaning out the corrupt elements.

Police Force under Tom Blamey at the time was not renowned for integrity - he was forced to resign as Police Commissioner in 1936 .
Word had it that he spent a lot of time during WW2 in trying to do in General Simpson.
