Iâm very aroused.
Why donât you go back to your home on â â â â â island?
I immediately regret this decision.
Iâve tried to watch that a couple of times. It just seems like a very nasty movie.
I watched this recently; definitely well done, but not an easy film to watch.
Iâve seen a few of Nicolas Roegâs other films, and I think Walkabout (1971) is very good - highly recommended. I thought that Donât Look Now (1973) was pretty good and The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976) is very strange but also kind of compelling.
Havenât seen the other movies, have seen Donât Look Now, was very good.
I agree it isnât easy to watch, Garfunkel is not a sympathetic character, but l found it compelling stuff.
My favourite Nicholas Roeg film is Performance, with Kick Jagger as a reclusive rock star who hides a crim, James Fox, who is on the run from the London mob. It is a film about character subversion, but who is subverting whom?
More unknown than under rated is Where the Buffalo Roam. Bill Murray plays Dr. Hunter S. Thompson covering the election campaign of Nixon. It loosely follows some articles Thompson wrote for Rolling Stone magazine at the time.
Where the Buffalo Roam, when video stores first started appearing - in my town it was a blokeâs house! - that always seem to stick out and for a pretty obscure title it was eventually in every store. Have not seen it to this day, my parents would have assumed it was an unhealthy cultural artifact. Instead our first two home videos were Deerhunter and The Godfather. Jeez
I think Raiders was our first hire.
No unhealthier than any other Hunter S. Thompson episode. Peter Boyle gives great support as his lawyer.
Will seek it out. Thatâs a good couple of actors
Thereâs always one film that makes you think they have talent.
Adam Sandlerâs early ones like Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison werenât too bad and then I enjoyed The Wedding Singer (we always enjoyed the Table 9 references) but after thatâŚand he should be shot for remaking a classic in Mr Deeds Goes To Town.
Will Ferrell I just donât appreciate. I remember guys at work raving about one (A Night at the Roxbury) and immediately crossed those guys off my âWill Accept their Recommendationsâ list and moved them to the Will Ignore. Much as Iâve done with a few people here.
The Warriors was ours. My oldest brother had bought this new fangled machine, my mother was away for the weekend, and so l watched it with my brother and his friends, and l remember thinking how cool is this.
Oh yeah. That and The Wanderers, many a vhs slumber party
Have you seen Roegâs Eureka? Iâve liked his films that Iâve seen and am also a bit of a Gene Hackman fan, so I wanna check this one out. Might not be so easy to find, thoughâŚ
As for video stores, my brother works at possibly the only one left in Melbourne (?), Picture Search on Swan St in Richmond. Itâs an interesting place, definitely worth a lookâŚ
On my google page, where adds and bits and bobs keep popping up, it has been showing clips from a film called Open Range with Robeert Duvall and Kevin Costner. Iâ d never heard of it and canât find it on the varios movie channels we now have.
Anyone seen it?
How odd to get Clip/Ads for a 2003 Film that turns out is not showing on any Pay TV or Streaming service/site in Aust???
While looking up to see that was the case on Just watch though, found one that was âsimilar/recommendedâ with Crowe & Bale in it called 3:10 to Yuma
Well rated on all the rating sites, (as was Open Range btw) & given Iâd never heard of it, Iâm tipping it might be a true candidate for this thread.
Iâm surprised youâve never heard of 3.10 to Yuma
I remember seeing it at the cinema when it was released.
A decent movie (imo)
