I’m not sure this one is underrated. It’s pretty much one of the most acclaimed and loved movies from that decade…

Just doing a little promo for it here on Blitz, where it is probably not all that well known.
Understandable stance. And I’ll accept the “buffoon” label.
Love “The Other Guys”, “Step Brothers” and to a lesser extent “Elf”.
I also continually watch the “Naked Gun” series and “Flying High”.
Always enjoy a cheap laugh!

Don’t know if it’s underrated as much as people just haven’t heard of it but City Of God.
Particularly as it has arguably the worst trailer ever.

Bad timing (1980).
Art Garfunkel, Theresa Russell & Harvey Keitel.
The setting is Vienna. A young American woman is brought to a hospital after overdosing on pills, apparently in a suicide attempt. A police detective suspects foul play on the part of her lover, an American psychology professor. As doctors try to save her life, the detective interrogates the professor, and through flashbacks we see the events leading up to the woman’s overdose; her stormy and intensly sexual relationship with the professor, her heavy drinking and numerous affairs, and her estrangement from her Czech husband. A darkly erotic study of several rather unsympathetic characters.

Great movie. And yes not underrated just probably not as well known as it deserves.
I’m officially rescinding my invitation to the pants party.
Top notch movie. One of the few movies where I would of loved an extra 5min at the end. I loved the backstory to the characters and the fight scenes were absolutely awesome

Will Ferrell is good in things like anchorman, talledega nights. Where it’s more of an ensemble cast of characters. When it’s just him who has to carry the movie he seems to struggle
