Unpopular Opinion

I mean, I know I said I was going against white privilege, but I was really trying to go way more for eat the rich.

Michel Moore.

(I think?) Bowling for Columbine.

I get what you’re saying, but I missed the guns drawn get on the ground scene.

I know a heap of ABF really well and the stereotype you see on that show is pretty accurate.
I don’t know if we don’t do enough at the point of departure in the way of signs or when tickets are purchased but the shear amount of food some of the Asian folk bring in is absolutely staggering. One of the crew was telling me about a flight that arrived from Vietnam into MEL recently and something like 40% of passengers had food products on them that hadn’t been declared. One lady had 2x40kg suitcases plus 2x carryons and had 4 items of clothing in total it’s the remainder being filled with fruit, vegetables and meat products.

I get that.
It’s kind of (sorry to keep going back to this) Italians bringing a massive salami (stop it) back forty years ago and going what? What?

But again, I don’t think Revs (or the Austral) is being supplied by suitcases.
Call me crazy.

Oh absolutely the big suppliers are still getting it in but there are still plenty of busts at the airport just that it’s at a pretty small amount in comparisons to what comes via sea

watching those gosh darn [redacted] get what’s comin to them gets the dopamine flowing like nothing else

Allegedly, when the fireworks go off at the FIFO sites, the good stuff has arrived.

I actually miss this place.

In 1970, I watched the first game at Waverley Park between Fitzroy and Geelong and in 1972 I watch the first final, played between St Kilda and Essendon.

And World Series Cricket in 1977 and David Bowie in 1980s

Yes it was good ……lots of big Essendon games and finals……I dont miss the car park and the hectic traffic jams

As someone who was too young to ever know Waverley Park, what was it like???

Wooden benches, bogged car park in the rain, ten minute drive from home. I liked it. I’m only 42. You that young Saucy?

I don’t watch much TV nowadays. I tend to binge TV series, like most people. However, when I do watch TV shows, give me a ‘real’ reality TV show any day (Border Security, Coastwatch, any of the Australian police-centric TV shows, etc) over what passes for ‘reality’ TV, but is really scripted/manipulated drama populated by ambitious people prepared to do anything to ‘become famous’

I’m 30 this year.

I can’t remember it at all.

Brutalist design, sweeping winds, nice big playing surface and if you were sat on one wing in the lower/boundary seats with the ball on the opposite wing, the legs of players were cut off due to a drainage slope. It was generally regarded as an excellent playing surface for its time compared to some of the dung heaps around the league, however a FC player Luke O’Sullivan did a serious knee injury due to some loose turf which effectively ended his career. A lot of great footy was played on its big flanks and wings. There is still that majestic mural on the old members stand too.

I’m nostalgic about it but really it was flawed and when it became disused I don’t recall caring about it like some. The fact the Glen Waverley line was never extended was the first nail in its coffin. I also have memories of the Wheelers Hill Hotel looking absolutely packed and full of desperate pissheads, the usual footy crowd of the time getting beers in then having to walk 15 minutes down Jells Rd to get to the ground, then through the car park.

I have a memory of my Mum in parachute tracksuit taking myself and a couple mates to a game as the old man was working interstate during the recession. The 85 Mazda 626 got bogged and a few blokes helped get it moving. That was not uncommon neither were blokes having a bbq after a game while the traffic took ages to bottleneck out.

Sounds like an absolute dump

I hate to break it to you, but Boarder Security, RBT etc are just as manipulated, and the only type of people who appear in them, are the ones dumb enough (or desperate enough for their 15 mins) to sign the waiver to be on it.
