Pod Save The World podcast is doing a 5-part series in the lead up to the election on world issues and what may occur in regards to who wins.
The first one is a look at what it means for democracy, and the rise of far right autocratic movements, and where the next president falls into this.
The host, Ben Rhodes, was a former member of Obama’s cabinet, so of course the guests and viewpoints are left leaning. But if it’s a question of democracy, any rational person will know it’s logical and correct that a Harris win is better.
One speaker also raises the idea of “oh Trump wasn’t so bad last time, so everything will be fine” which has come up in here at times, and explains why this time he would be so much worse for democracy.

OK, we know of many MAGA martyrs, like the nut job who attacked Pelosi’s husband with a hammer, the likes of Rudy Giuliani, who gambled for a job in the next MAGA whitehouse, hitching his wagon to Trump, or even Melania, who has made a deal with a man she obviously cannot stand to be near.
But the latest, 68 year old Tina Peters, might get the MMOTY (MAGA Martyr Of The Year ) award for getting 9 years for professing her belief in the hacked Dominion voting machine theory . She argued with the proven facts, and questioned the judges integrity right in the judges face during sentencing when all she had to do was plead remorse for her litany of actions over the last 3 years , in which case she might have been able to get a degree of mercy.
There are 50 million cases in the MAGA city, this has been one of them.

Trump banging on about that vicious assailant. Only MAGA can save America from such people. Leaving out the bits that they are predominately white, born in the USA, as with most mass shooters.
Trump outspending Harris in Pennysylvania and criss crossing the state. Its clearly now seen as the key in Trumps most likely pathway to the win. Harris needs to step up big time in the next 4 weeks. Its very close and theres a lot of bang for campaign dollars: 19 EC votes

This article claims what Vance said was false but then goes on to describe basically what he said happened.
“Before the June redesignation, about 200,000 Haitians benefitted from the temporary protection. The June action allowed any Haitian who met eligibility requirements and had been living in the US by June 3, 2024, to apply. The Department of Homeland Security estimated 309,000 additional Haitians would be eligible.”
Is the implication here that 309000 Haitians had illegally immigrated or maybe had some short term visa but have then been granted temporary protected status making it legal for them to stay. Because that is basically what Vance was saying happened.

There’s some obfuscation happening here. They did not arrive illegally. What Vance is saying is that a Democrat government has no right to make any changes to any sort of immigration policies or else the Republicans will immediately label it illegal. That’s what “waving the wand”, that completely insane label is all about.
If we are talking about “waving the wand”, then I would like to bring our attention back to January 2017 and the so-called Muslim ban that was struck down by the courts as illegal. The courts determined it. If you want to call something illegal, take it up with the courts and let them decide. I wonder why the Republicans haven’t done that but are instead using this as a campaign slogan.
I have approached all of your comments in good faith. But every time a completely pertinent point has been raised, all you have done is paraded Republican talking points. Nowhere have I seen you make a good faith effort to look at “both sides of the story”, which is the common phrase people who are extremely biased use when they don’t like the way their side is being treated. I have done my due diligence for you and will stop now.
