US politics - is weird (part 6)

I think it’s because he’s so thin skinned, and his message is so ■■■■, and he has no friends, that the metrics he uses for success are things like crowd size.

Anyway, I thought this was funny.

Mildy random, but I was watching random politcal videos, and boy was John McCain’s concession speeches one of the best concessions of all time:

Narcissist don’t concede ever

Just look at the last election.

Edit:

Btw here are the characteristics of a narcissists from DSM-5. Tick off each of ol’ Donald’s traits.

  • Have an unreasonably high sense of self-importance and require constant, excessive admiration.
  • Feel that they deserve privileges and special treatment.
  • Expect to be recognized as superior even without achievements.
  • Make achievements and talents seem bigger than they are.
  • Be preoccupied with fantasies about success, power, brilliance, beauty or the perfect mate.
  • Believe they are superior to others and can only spend time with or be understood by equally special people.
  • Be critical of and look down on people they feel are not important.
  • Expect special favors and expect other people to do what they want without questioning them.
  • Take advantage of others to get what they want.
  • Have an inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others.
  • Be envious of others and believe others envy them.
  • Behave in an arrogant way, brag a lot and come across as conceited.
  • Insist on having the best of everything — for instance, the best car or office.

Look at the 2016 election.

He’s still not over losing the popular vote

The change from a McCain or Romney being at the centre of the GOP is a pretty dramatic shift in a short space of time.

Yep that fits

But when did this modern definition of “narcissist” come up? That term has referred to a different and much less malignant condition for more than 2400 years.

Another good one:

Narcism is a genuine mental illness condition.

Alot of people over use it for people who are difficult.

No. It just means thinking too highly of yourself, which we’re all a little guilty of at times .

It comes from the Greek myth of Narcissus, a man so captivated by his own reflection in a pool of water that he wasted away and died because he was unable to tear himself away from it.

You’re thinking of Narcissistic Personality Disorder which is a diagnosable mental illness and a totally different beast.

Right wing thought is always a burst bubble away from whatever it takes

This is like the transformation of small L Liberal conservatism to the current regressive recidivism, but on steroids. That we’ll follow that pathway here concerns me greatly.

It’s definitely happened in the UK. And, traits are shining in places like Italy and Spain.

The cultural battle being waged in America’s schools is just completely unbelievable. I really fear for any normal person trying to raise kids in a Republican state. This is complete insanity.

Then, there is the craziness playing out in libraries across the country. Book banning happening in some states while pushback happening in others. This is a sign in my local library in a small northern California town.

Meanwhile in Bulgaria, community protests against government banning LBQTI education books in schools.

Imagine banning books when the internet exists

When governments cut off internet access, geoblock etc, easier than book burning.

I’ve just checked. And the minumum age for President (and Vice President) is 35; the minimum for Senator is 30 and the minimum for a Representative is 25.
