The trick will be to negotiate a treaty where Russia saves face and Putin can tell his people they’ve achieved something of value fro the invasion, and for NATO to stop the war in Ukraine. Is this possible without Ukraine giving land? And this is a genuine question, I have no idea. Otherwise, will this be a war that waits until Ukraine finally folds due to years of fighting? And if they are about to fold, are troops involved from NATO?

Ukraine has not formally requested a NATO presence, but Military personnel of the US (esp SOF) and some European countries are already in Ukraine as advisers and training their army. Macron’s proposal of sending support personnel has not got off the ground but I see nothing wrong with it in principle.
Even Russia can’t afford to lose 365,000 young men per year.
Nobody wants them to do that.
Nobody wants them to keep throwing their future into the meat grinder.
But that is not a reason to give in to tyrants.

I’m asking for your opinion Nexta, I understand there is training of personnel taking place. If you support ground troops does this significantly increase the threats of a world war? with Russia threatening to use Nukes if ground support is given, you are banking on that risk not occuring. I’m not sure the general population would be keen on another ground level war, and more so as you risk China and other countries getting involved as the rhertoric will be about NATO pushing their bounds.
Do you think there is a treaty possible?

You can’t trust Russia, but a treaty puts a stop to the war for now and saves innocent lives and gets aid to those that need it in the meantime. Would this not be the most important outcome?

I have to leave this thread- seriously not good for one’s blood pressure. There are people here who think it’s ok for one country to invade another, claim their territory, torture and kill their people and now enter into negotiations to keep the land, children and occupants they’ve stolen.
