I guess it shouldn’t be hard to quote where I said I’m supporting Trump then?
Wasn’t one of the Bushes elected under dodgy circumstances? I think Kerry was even declared winner and that was then retracted.
Even the win against Gore is suspect.
Didnt Al Gore lose an election due to fraud / interfering with voting.
Then after September 11 Nobody cared that Gore should have won the election.
The results: The two major conclusions here are that Gore likely would have won a hand recount of the statewide overvotes and undervotes – which he never requested – while Bush likely would have won the hand recount of undervotes ordered by the Florida Supreme Court, although by a smaller margin than the certified 537 vote difference.
A sampling of headlines from the time include “Florida Recounts Would Have Favored Bush, But Study Finds Gore Might Have Won Statewide Tally of all Uncounted Ballots,” from The Washington Post, and “Study of Disputed Ballots Finds Justices Did Not Cast the Deciding Vote,” from The New York Times.
However, as the Post concluded, “While these are fascinating findings, they do not represent a real-world situation. There was no set of circumstances in the fevered days after the election that would have produced a hand recount of all 175,000 overvotes and undervotes.”
The study was also released two months after the September 11 terrorist attacks, when the nation’s focus moved away from the controversial 2000 election to the more pressing War on Terror.
One of the biggest sliding doors moments in the history of the world. Dubya ‘winning’ by 512 Florida votes.
Yes Bush junior was given Florida and thus the Presidency under extremely dubious circumstances , first by his brother (who was Governor of Florida) and then by SCOTUS as another of their gifts to the Republicans.
For the kidz:
Goes to show that design (in this case, both mechanical and voting form layout) matters. That, and not having an impartial electoral commission.
That’s okay, I’ve been accused of supporting Trump for eight years because I committed the cardinal sin of actually considering a third party vote.
What was the hard question?
Don’t blame me, I voted for Kodos.
Texas has purged its electoral roll, maintaining only those meeting eligibility requirements ( the undead and those who have not moved from their residential address)
Reportedly this has taken a million voters off its roll.
It remains to be seen whether the number who have moved will be re-enrolled.
CB, I don’t care if you are the biggest fanboi for Trump out there but the vibe of your posts is that you constantly bag Kamala and then while not explicitly praising Trump you seem to be able to find articles that pump up his tyres and you also downplay all of his shenigans such as his attempted coup and almost criminal neglect during covid. It appears to me (and many others on this thread) that you are a supporter of his. Don’t care one way or the other but there is no need to pretend about it.
Note that the above list is at least partially not true (Australia). I expect it’s actually quite untrue.
What do you mean by voter ID and when do you need it? Is it to get on the role and that’s it or does it mean that you need to prove who you are every time you vote?
PNG is interesting, having been their not sure that most of the voting population would be carrying around their id if they even have any.
When I moved electorates, I did the change online and have never had to produce ID to vote. I give my full name and address , then get given the ballot papers.
Once I got a please explain for not voting, but it appears my name was not ticked off. I advised the polling station and the time I voted. NFA.
what in the holy unsorted hell is this list
Harder to fact check if out-of-order
I can imagine showing your mygov id before voting is not far away from trying to be implemented here.
Why? Identity theft is usually done for profit.
